Maybe I can't see the forest for the trees, but I can't understand why question 17 was solved using the Pmax equation for a longitudinal joint instead of the one for a circumferential joint.



An 8-inch diameter, seamless pipe contains high temperature steam. It has double butt flange welds, corrosion, yada... What is most nearly the max allowable pressure?

So... why is the max pressure for the pipe being calculated with the equation dealing with a longitudinal joint? Thanks :blink:
