This problem asks for the input impedance Zin of this circuit.

The answer is 3.4 k-ohms

I can get that answer by calculating the voltage across the secondary is 3.9V. Therefore the input voltage for the circuit is 15.1V

Would someone else work this problem.

Does this transformer usage have a name?

I agree the input voltage looks like 15.1 volts and since the NET current supplied by source is 5.6 mA - 1.1 mA you divide V/R = 15.1/4.5mA and get 3.375k ohms. I'm doing this quickly while walking out of work so you may check my work but think I'm correct.

I think the name is "transformer question that tests your knowledge of dot convention". I don't know of an application.

I get the same answer in basically the same manner.

Same here.
