Shield Wires/Transmission lines

Cans someone tell me a good place to study shield wires and reactors from?

What type of info are you searching for?  Shield wires (either static or fiber) in transmission lines are used for lightening protection and have no return path back to the substation transformer, unlike distribution where the shield is also the neutral (if constructed as shield/neutral over the phases) and used for a return current path and lightening protection.

One question which comes to my mind is what is the protection angle of shield wire. perhaps it is 30 degrees. Please verify data before use.

Take a look at the RUS manual for rural utilities.  We use 30 deg for our shield angles for all voltages, but small utilities and Co-ops follow the USDA RUS design guide.  Typically this governs lower transmission voltages (i.e. 69kV and 115kV)
