Hi all,

I have been studying the cuomo book and work out problems. I have a question on problem 8 chap. 3. How is the HI at TP1 calculated? attached is the problem and solution. Thanks!

454.69+4.02 = 458.71 = HI BM1

458.71 - 6.02 (FS TP1) = 452.69 = Elev TP1

452.69 + 4.20 (BS TP1) = 456.89 = HI TP1

Just wanted to mention that one should not care the SS readings when calculate HI. Good luck!

That's right, side shots are completely irrelevant for this problem. Generally, the BS is added to the ELEV. on the same STA to get the HI on that STA.
