Thanks,

I have a friend who got this book to prepare for the Civil (Geotechnical Depth) exam. He found the cookbook recipe approach 'okay'. He didn't find where it appreciably supplemented his references or understanding of geotechnical problem solving.

I think if you are going to invest $$, you would be better off purchasing something like the Chelapati Workbook for Geotechnical Engineering that is focused on the sorts of problems you will encounter on the PE Exam. I think I have said that before and if I have I apologize for sounding like a broken record. :appl:

No, I have Chelapati's book. Just didn't know if this reference would "add anything to the game"...you know?

ktulu,

is that the affi book? green softcover? i got that book (i took geotech pm in the fall), and i didn't find it very useful. i think there are a lot of mistakes in it too. are you taking geotech in the afternoon? if you have chelapati and the 6-minutes, i think you'd be ok.

Not quite sure about the cover of the book in question. But I do have the 6-minute and Chelapati books....just went to the university library and checked out a Foundation Engineering Handbook that looked pretty handy...
