NON-STRUCTURAL CARRIER systems are an engineered element that transfers the load from MEP carrier systems or equipment to supporting structures. The load includes the weight of the MEP carrier system or equipment, the contents carried by the MEP carrier system or equipment, all fittings connected to the MEP carrier system or equipment and its cladding, such as insulation.

The four main functions of NON-STRUCTURAL CARRIER systems are to stabilize, guide, shock absorb and support a specified load. Pipe supports used in high or low temperature applications may also include insulating materials. The overall design configuration of a pipe support assembly depends on the loading/operating conditions and the pipe support location.
