New to the board here

I’m a practicing civil, with a decent amount of environmental course in recent past (~5yrs); opting to go after the enviro exam to hopefully trigger a career in energy-environmental

Question of the night – Lindeburg’s Sample Prob. Chap 24, #12: anyone offer guidance as to how 25 gal per cap-day is attained? I understand his ascertained Q vs. t curve, and his straight line fit to that curve, but am having trouble getting to 25 gal per cap-day; perhaps some sort of st’d deviation in Q direction?

Apologies for lame first post – I’ll be on this board through Oct; may not pass, but going to give it a heck of a shot

-Eric

Welcome elarocque, and good luck this October.

Looking back at my solution (from 3 years ago, mind you), it appears that you get the 25 gal per capita STORAGE requirement simply by the graphical method of measuring the distance between the two lines representing the extremes of demand. So, I suppose that's sort of like a standard deviation, like you said. But it's real rough - you would be forgiven if you did not get exactly what he came up with.
