I particularly enjoyed this quote from Achmadinenutjob, and the corresponding rosy misrepresentation of it by the AP:

The launch was intended to be a message of peace and friendship to the world, Ahmadinejad told state television. "We need science for friendship, brotherhood and justice," he said.
Dissecting it: He said science is needed for friendship, brotherhood, and (Iranian-style) justice.

Note the AP interpretation: "a message of peace and understanding". What about the (Iranian-style) justice?

Here's another thought. Telecom satellites are in geosynchronous orbit, meaning they stay over one place, and are much further out than @255 miles. They don't circle the world 15 times every 24 hours.

Something is up with this.

My first thought was "it must be a rock".

My second thought was "Russia or China must have helped them"

My third thought was "Israel will strike soon".

I saw the video, the rocket looked like a used Chinese model but just as valid as the rusty volvo your neighbor owns.

It didn't look photoshopped like their missiles.
