Have they removed illumination as a topic from the EE Power Depth Module of the PE? I don't see it listed in Camara's EERM.

^There isn't a chapter on it in the EERM. However, it is listed in the subjects you may be tested on as part of the exam. It doesn't mean that you will have a lighting question on the test but it is fair game. There was at least one lighting question on the exam I took in April '07.

I had an old Yarborough (sp?) PE review book that a friend of mine lent me and it had a pretty decent lighting section in it. There's also a pretty good section on lighting in the Standard Handbook for Electrical Engineers.

Has Camara starting giving the exam now? I think I'd look at the exam topics on NCEES website. they are the ones that give the exam.

And yes. It appears that it is in the power depth exam.

2. Lightning and Surge Protection

I've had to do a little site lighting over the years out of necessity. I just blindly plug stuff into Visual until it meets code. What are the good references for lighting. It couldn't hurt to have one in my back pocket.

I bought Dr. Blank's video course. He devotes 2hrs 45 min. to lighting, 15 minutes to NEC. I skipped the 2:45 of lighting - the last thing I need right now is a whole nother subject that I know nothing about. I'd like to find some reference book that has the common formulas - anything out there?

great point MIG!

VT, When I'm doing lighting for a streetscape, I give my cad layout to the local lighting sales rep and he has a guy that shows the illumination layout for my proposed locations, then I fix accordingly.

I love salesman sometimes. :D
