We spent the evening at our friends' place. Since they live in a small apt in Boston, grilling was out. But we had a lasagna that couldn't be beat, and I appreciated the fact that the guy went through all the trouble to make it since he's lactose intolerant.
One of them is of Colombian descent, and they had another couple over that recently moved from there to the states. So we got a little cultural lesson while we were at it.
Did you know in Colombia, when you move to a new house, they don't use hand trucks. And you move your major appliances like the fridge. Try carrying that up 3 flights of stairs. It's the little things that make our country great!
And despite the fact that everyone in the room besides the recently immigrated couple and me was a PhD in some ridiculously hard field (biomedical eng, geneticist, physicist, etc.) they were asking me questions about being a PE all night. I always have such an inferiority complex when hanging out with my friends that it was nice to have it the other way around for once.
Lessons Learned
1. Don't be a professional mover in Colombia
2. Find some friends that are not total eggheads
