Would you like the chance to work on Royal Navy’s Astute Class and Successor Class submarine programmes? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Engineer – Electro Magnetic Compatibility at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.

 

As a Principal Engineer – Electro Magnetic Compatibility, you will have the opportunity to influence the design, test and ultimately the success, of one of the world’s most renowned defence companies.

 

This role within our Electromagnetics department will enable you to contribute within a challenging engineering environment to the successful delivery of future submarines; executing evaluating, delivering and managing complex engineering and / or cross functional tasks or programmes of work, recognising stakeholder and customer requirements.

 

 

Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineer – Electro Magnetic Compatibility will involve: 






 

Working with a dedicated EMC (Electro Magnetic Compatibility) team; evaluating the Electromagnetic Environment on the submarine programmes

 

Performing EMC testing both on-board and within a dedicated newly built Electromagnetic test facility

 

Assessing boat Electrical Equipment for EM (Electro Magnetic) suitability and in particular its susceptibility failure modes

 

Working with equipment manufacturers to address EM issues in a cost effective manner

 

Using a variety of specialised EMC test equipment and conducting EMC testing to a number of recognised specifications

 

Preparing test plans and reports

 

Collating, assessing and reviewing EMC qualification evidence

 

Preparing calculations to demonstrate that the EM environment is safe

 

 

Your skills and qualifications as a Principal Engineer – Electro Magnetic Compatibility:

 

Essential:






 

Degree or equivalent qualification or experience within relevant engineering discipline      

Experience of EMC testing

Good working knowledge of EMC design practices

 

Desirable:






 

Chartered Engineer or satisfies the criteria to become chartered 

An understanding of RF propagation
