Does HCM 2010 & Roadside Design Guide 2011 required ?

Hey Guys,

I have HCM 2000 & Roadside Design Guide 2006. Do you think I need to update to HCM 2010 & RSD 2011 for April 2013 exam ?

I don't like spending $500 on these books, if not required.

I have both HCM 2000 and 2010. 2010 is MUCH different than 2000. Some of the formulas have changed that would cause you to possibly miss a question. Also the 2010 is much neater and easier to follow. Also the AASHTO greenbook has changed a lot from 2004 to 2011. I don't know about the RSD 2011.

The changes doesn't seem to be any major from the exam point of view in both HCM 2010 (except couple of chapters, The freeway weaving chapter, The freeway facilities chapter introduces a

table for LOS based on density, A new chapter on active traffic management)

Well you may be able to get away with not buying the latest manuals, but I'm not willing to risk missing questions. We have no idea what questions the exam writers will pick.
