Job Description
- Oversee a small team of engineers to distribute workload in order to produce drawings, work orders and engineering masters in an ERP environment
- Capable of designing equipment configurations by calculating stresses, pressure drops and fluid dynamics
- Assist the Operations Manager in developing a detailed plan of proposed programs/projects (includes schedules, budget, staffing, facilities, etc.)
- Oversee internal kick-off meetings with project teams to ensure that all stakeholders are informed as to their roles as they relate to the project. Coordinate instructions for the China engineering team and how it fits into the gate system. Familiarity with LEAN principals and continuous improvement
- Assign roles to the members of the Engineering team. Establish meetings to coordinate schedule, labor tracking and cost estimating. Provide variance reports
- Oversee the creation of all drawings and technical documents, making sure they follow established standards and guidelines
- Assist the manufacturing department with BOM, W/O's and drawing interpretations. Answer questions and coordinate corrections to the above for re-release or as-built drawings
- Coordinate with China facility on long lead items to ensure timely vendor purchase and delivery so that the schedule can be met
- Travel to China to coordinate with Engineering team in the China factory. Assist in establishing relationships with vendors, coordinating manufacturing processes, guiding them in their ERP implementation and implementing quality control
- Act as a Project Manager on certain projects as requested
The Successful Applicant
- Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering degree
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a machine shop or other manufacturing environment
- Minimum of 5 years in a make-to-order manufacturing environment
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a 3D drawing program
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in an ERP/MRP environment
- Ability to speak fluent Mandarin and write in Chinese a plus
- Must be able to travel to China on an ongoing basis
- Must have a basic understanding of steel fabrication, basic machining & welding, hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical components as they relate to the water treatment industry
