Caltrans Manual

I'm trying to read through the Caltrans manual... But realized there are just too many pages (almost a 1.5" binder). Do I really need to read and understand every page or I probably only need a few sections of the manual? Any suggestions will be highly appreciated! 10940623:

most of the test is based on calculations not the caltrans manual, survey staking section is used by several review books, u need to focus on test plan material not caltrans material.
