Preparing for my California civil exam. I need other resources to study with. I purchased http://engineeringsciencesprep.com software, and found it useful but i need a study guide like book.

Check out this thread for the correct books. Most are recommending the 2006 CBC or 2006 IBC. On top of that I am bringing the ASCE 7-05 and a few other study guides as backup.

The april exam was based on the IBC and ASCE, I believe there was one question for the CBC

I hope you have the CERM too. 
I used Hiner's book for seismic (along with the ASCE 7-05), and Cuomo's book for surveying and that seemed sufficient. Of course you'll need all of your depth specific books too depending on what you're taking.
