Would you like to play a key role within the Submarine Manufacturing Engineering team? Due to a period of growth, we currently have several opportunities for Senior Manufacturing Engineers within the following disciplines at our site in Barrow-in-Furness:
• Manufacturing Build Planning
• Build Line Support
• Dimensional Management
• Build Strategy
• Assurance and Governance
• Jig and Tool
These roles will provide you with an opportunity to work with a wide range of responsibilities and disciplines, offering the opportunity to develop into more specialised areas. You will also have the chance to influence and embed manufacturing engineering into the business. Progression opportunities could include development into a Principal Engineer role within one of our many manufacturing disciplines.
Your main responsibilities as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer will involve:
Converting the Engineering Design intent into Manufacturing Engineering data (sometimes complex) for Operations' use
Mentoring more junior staff members and checking peers’ work, ready for release to Operations
Contributing to the management of the Quality and SHE Systems, for Manufacturing Engineering processes and documentation
Assisting in the deployment of training and risk assessments associated with the Manufacturing Engineering sub-discipline
Supporting justifications/business cases to implement improvements and provide optimised return on capital investment
Assuring product and process quality as determined by company processes
Developing and testing new systems, when required
Agreeing and prioritising with the customer, emergent work affecting submarine manufacture, fabrication or construction
Providing decision-making information by calculating production labour and material costs, reviewing production schedules and estimating future requirements
Acting as a focal point for discipline-specific tasks ensuring best practices are adopted and embedded. This may involve developing processes within the sub-discipline by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing development methods and equipment by conferring with field specialists and technologists
Your skills and qualifications as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer:
Essential:
HNC/ HND/ Degree level qualification in STEM subject
Experience in one of the following backgrounds:
· Shop floor/ fitter
· Machine shop
· Manufacturing
· Operations
Ability to interpret drawings and/ or CAD model
Desirable:
Working knowledge/ experience of Manufacturing Engineering
