America's oldest PE candidate lacks experience?

I'm just curious, are you looking for a path to obtain a PE via work experience (w/o sitting for the exam) or are you looking for a path to qualifying to sit for the exam but your work experience wasn't under PE's? Hopefully it's the former and hopefully it you're able to get it. As most of...

    PE vs. AACE Certification

"Maybe the exam itself is not a solid measure of anyone's competency as an engineer....you'll definitely want to have your P.E. more than the other cert you've mentioned above." I'd have to agree with that first part. During my time in engineering I met some people w/ PE's, even those who...

Can you transfer 8 hr Ca Civil PE exam pass to another state for a full license?

I was under the impression that to seek "reciprocity" it would require that you are already licensed in the state you are coming from. I guess this is not a matter of reciprocity then but of applying for the exame and showing that you ahve indeed already passed it in your home state?

Against all Odds need some help

Wow, you haven't started studying yet? Well, it's been decades since I took mine and I believe that the strategy doesn't change, which is, to do A LOT of practice problems. Just "reviewing" your books/materials isn't going to help much, you are time limited so you need to be able to recognize...

October 2018 - Funny Exam Stories

Well, this isn't an exam taking story but I'm assuming most of you folks are much younger (i.e., within 10 yrs or so of being out of school) so perhaps you don't know about this, but also maybe it was only a CA thing.  But prior to the exam going full multiple choice back in the early 2000's...

Can I apply the Civil PE license from other states without passing CA exams?

If you are taking the PE in some random state just for the purposes of taking it, then consider the state that has the best reciprocity.  I think CA is one of the states that has good chance of reciprocity in other states (i.e., without having to retake the PE in that other state or any...

    Late Bloomer Questions

Hey, I graduated same year as you, 1997.  I took my exam (Civil) as soon as I became eligible, in 1999, after two years of qualifying work experience.  Still though, it took three tries.  The main difference between my fails and success was doing practice problems/drills.  For the third exam I...

    Third time is a charm?

My first attempt at the Civil PE was way back when the exam was still done long-hand (not multiple choice, so you can't just guess if you don't know the answer) and you had to who and turn in all your calculations.  This was before the change to breadth/depth format of the early 2000's.  I...

    Exam Re-Take Limit? California...

Hey, I'm new here and actually can be considered an "old timer" considering I obtained my PE (Civil) way, way back in the early 2000's.  I wanted to see how the exam has changed both in terms of format as well as the qualifying/application process.  Believe it or not I have some peers that...
