use of PE in sig if Licensed in another state

Good topic. Below I attached what happened here in Minnesota regarding this issues, it was in their Newsletter (Volume 13, Number 2), it is also available online at http://www.aelslagid.state.mn.us/ I know it is a bit lengthy, but good reading for those interested. ~Ritchie503

    Iowa PE Exam Results?

I did a comity application to Iowa that was accepted the end of September, I received my wall certificate the end of Jan only because I e-mailed the board asking (Jennifer). With the certificate it said "We recently discovered that you did not recieve certificate packet. Our apologies for the...

CA lawyer wanting to take FE exam in order to take patent bar

The FE Exam is developed on a national level, NCEES grades all tests and forwards recommendations to the states. (Some others here know much more about the process than I do - I just know I don't have to take it again!) Good luck on all the tests!!!

CA lawyer wanting to take FE exam in order to take patent bar

The FE exam is offered in all 50 states. If you are strong in math/physical sciences I think you will be able to pass the exam. Depending how far out of college/how much math you remember, 3 months should be enough study time I would think - I took it senior year of college and only put about...

    LEED

Well guess it worked, got a 194 on the LEED NC2.2 exam, I should not have put as much effort in it as I did - studied too much. Oh well, glad this one is over.

    Don't Sell Yourself Short!

Just want to mention that the PE exam is on "Architectural Engineering" and not "Architecture", there is a difference. We have been down this road before, if you want to read more go to Engineer Boards > General Discussion > Shoot the Breeze > Hall of Fame>Architectural Engineering...

    Iowa PE Exam Results?

I didn't know if Iowa was slow on mailing all certificates or just the ones for comity applicants. Maybe I will give them another month and then call to bug them... or maybe call now :mail-296:

    LEED

I can't believe that NJ doesn't have CEU requirements for PE's, or how many states don't have them. I am hoping to kill two birds with now stone for now but hoping for the triple hit once I hopefully pass the masters electrican exam, work is still on me about that one.. Not that some training...

    Iowa PE Exam Results?

Congrats new Iowa PE's! Since some of you received your license number really fast, I am wondering when (if) you receive a wall certificate? I took the PE in Minnesota a couple years ago, this fall I received my Iowa license via comity, have a license number, but still have no wall...

    RCDD exam

I have not taken this exam, and don't plan to as I don't deal with low voltage communications enough to make it worthwhile. I do think it is a valuable certification if you are/want to be in low voltage/communication work, several of the people I know who focus in that are RCDD's. I have dealt...

    LEED

The USGBC would love to require you get LEED specific hours only from USGBC taught courses, I don't think that will happen (people should be outraged) but considering the guaranteed money on the line - it could happen. The place you are taking the class with is actually based in Wisconsin I...

    LEED

Honestly I can't believe they didn't figure this out years ago - but yes it will generate some nice income for them! Even though all you Legacy LEED AP's get to skip the Green Associate stuff, you still have that higher bar they created (LEED AP Fellow) in case you need to be more of an...

    LEED

Thanks for answering it - I was wondering on that - I am scheduled to take it Jan 20th. I agree LEED will become more important.. and honestly glad they are adding a continuing education requirement to the program - surprised it took this long.

    Alternative Certification Research

I looked at the site, it is interesting - nice to list them all in one spot. I could not find RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) listed on the website, I think that is one that should be added (I hear this all the time within electrial/low voltage design). Also, for fire...

Congrats! I am planning on taking it in January.

A good start to the day

^^^ I got the RPN bug back in High School when I started using my first HP - will never go back! As far as graphing, the only one I have used is the HP48G which like I said I got in high school (1994-95 approx). The main advantage I had with the HP over people using a TI is that with the HP...

A good start to the day

You actually used the HP 33s after taking the exams? I went right back to my HP48G. The 33s I have at home for when I need to use a calculator - since I have the RPN bug too and can't use anything but... The main thing I hate about the 33s is that the stack is only 4 lines where on the 48G it...

Do I need to bring a copy of the NEC?

I agree the handbook is better than the code book. I think if you can obtain a 'Motor Data Calculator' from SquareD (GE has them also) it is handy (slide rule type thing), gives you quick access to Motor FLA, wire ampacities, conduit sizing (EMT only!), and transformer info (standard sizes...

    Architectural Engineering PE

Oh that is a good one.

    Architectural Engineering PE

The real goal is to pass the exam; there are different ways to accomplish this which are in various other threads. I may have had a poor choice of words, but yes I agree it is best to know the subject matter that will be on the exam type which will help to do your best at every question. Which...
