    BCxP from ASHRAE?

Anyone pursue a Building Commissioning Professional Certification (BCxP)? How was the application process compared to the PE, as it does not seem as intensive? How was the exam itself? Also, did you find it worthwhile in terms of career progression or marketability? I currently work for an ECP...

As one of my friends said, quoting John Mayer... Why, why Georgia, why?

    Mark's Manual

Same as the previous posts. I have both books, but MERM was far better for the test. I didn't even take Marks' to the exam. I do, however, use Marks' for my job and it is helpful.

    Virginia Results!!!

If you have your email from DPOR confirming receipt of your application and that you need to submit the ethics and laws exam (should be dated before your exam date), there is a five digit number in the subject. That will become your license number, along with 04020 in front of it (04020#####)...

Failed Mechanical MDM Multiple Times...Could use some advice...

While I did not take MDM (I was a TFS guy), one of the most valuable things I did while studying was tabbing MERM to the level of ad nauseam (bit of hyperbole). Later into my studying (I was enrolled in the PPI class), I took the PPI practice in simulated real conditions and I got my s***...

    PE Thermal/Fluids 10/2017 - A Few Prep Questions

I agree with you, but the ASME tables were in my company's office, had a broader range than MERM and they were free   But, I believe you are fine if  you only have MERM.

    PE Thermal/Fluids 10/2017 - A Few Prep Questions

Michael, I took the PPI course for the TFS exam this time last year. The main reason I took it was that I knew I may not have the discipline needed to study. The course was an external driver that helped keep me on track. While I was motivated to pass, there were "those days" where I thought I...

    ME THERMO/FLUIDS

While I took the TFS depth, I had colleagues who took HVAC, and said the ASHRAE Fundamentals is absolutely, 100% necessary for the exam. The other three books are highly, highly recommend. While not required, you will be at a severe disadvantage if you don't have all four. Another tip, try to...

Online course for PE thermal and Fluid

While many people advocate for self-study, you need to look at works for you. I knew I would have a hard time staying disciplined with work and RL, so I took the PPI Online Class with Richard Davis. His notes were great and his knowledge about potential test content was very insightful. The...

    PE passers by age.

I passed the FE exam at 21 (still in college). I passed the PE exam at the age of 26. I studied for hundreds of hours over several months. IMHO, it's not about the age, it about the time one puts in to prepare for the exam. And I can't forget, I had a very supportive finance, and a study buddy...

    Still Can't Believe It!

I know! Until only recently, I was convinced NCEES was going to email me at some point and say "We've make a mistake" and change my green Pass box to something worse...

New Mechanical PE specifications for the April 2017 exams

I'd say they are not required for the exam. IMHO none of those codes would have helped me, they would only consume your time while searching them. Your exam time is already scarce, I'd leave them home; choice is yours. PS, the Civil PE exam specifications from NCEES (link) call out codes that...

Review Courses - Mechanical: Machine Design and Materials

You can purchase the newest version (2016) from NCEES or PPI, or other vendors. The 2011 and 2016 versions of the NCEES exam are similar, but if you can get both, do so. Check out the Yard Sale forum here, most people sell their study books after they pass. Check eBay too... who knows. Also...

Review Courses - Mechanical: Machine Design and Materials

@007Mech_E, if you are disciplined enough for self-study, @starquest is right. I would purchase the PPI book set (https://ppi2pass.com/mechanical-pe-machine-design-and-materials-bundle.html), any NCEES exams you can get your hands on, and your favorite textbook (the above list is good).  If you...

Mech. HVAC new spec. exam maaterial.

He brought all 4 books (Fundamentals, HVAC Systems & Equipment, HVAC Applications, Refrigeration) to the exam. I don't know how much he used each one, but I know the Fundamentals book was indispensable.  The years aren't that important for the Handbooks, just try to get a set of 4...

New Mechanical PE specifications for the April 2017 exams

I have also found MERM to be useful after the exam. I have to prepare fairly in-depth calculations (most by hand, no modeling). MERM has been great as a reference book, for equations or properties. Even if you don't use it on the exam day because METS is enough, its good to have down the road. YMMV.
