Some References: Source Impedance, System Grounding

Just got these first two bound at Kinkos and they may help other last-minute reference assemblers. Good luck tomorrow everyone! Transformers, Source Impedance: />http://www.phillipsengineers.com/documents/TransformerandSourceImpedance_000.pdf System grounding, symmetrical components, etc...

Capacitor Banks - calculating series/parallel kVAR

There are a few questions from Complex Imaginary that ask about capacitor banks. To pick one (4-70), a 3P motor needs its PF improved by 3360 kVARs, using 140 kVAR units. The answer seems to be a straightforward 1120 kVAR/phase, or 8 units per phase. What I'm confused about is that CI claims...

    Calculator Batteries!

Just working a problem when my display started to fade unless I pointed the solar cell at the window. Just a heads-up in case this wasn't on your exam-day checklist already!

    CI Problem 4-30

This is a PF correction problem which I thought I could do in my sleep until I got this one wrong. I calculated that this delta-connected 460V motor, 96A phase current, at a 0.70 lagging pf has S=132kVA <45.6. A capacitor then corrects this to a 0.95 lagging pf and it asks for the real power...

PPI Power Sample Exam Problem 45

HI All, this board is a great resource- glad I had a PE recommend this to me! Thanks to all the PEs who still hang out on here to help those of us still aspiring. I'm a bit confused on the above problem with mutual inductance. This problem is a transformer equivalent circuit showing Rp = 50, Lp...
