    Waiting for CBT?

personally I can't imagine a CBT Power exam being any easier than the current format. The one reference material fits all format would be scary to me, especially on conceptual topics and topics that I have a hard time grasping. I'd say if this time doesn't go the way you'd like I'd say use the...

    PE Application - Texas

Totally felt your pain, submitted on January 6th, moved from admin review 3/15. Good news was I had a number by midnight 3/16. So Technical review seems to be taking no time at all.

    PE Application - Texas

https://www.diplomaframe.com/texas/gold-engraved-medallion-certificate-frame-17956.aspx This is what I got, it's just the generic state seal. I couldn't find an engineering specific one. As for the second copy, I'd bet you probably could get a second one... I'm sure stuff happens to originals...

April 2018 Power PE Difficultly Level

I'm pretty sure it wasn't until maybe 4 weeks out that I got the survey... and I passed. Not sure about those who get early surveys but from what I read that's not a good thing.

April 2018 Power PE Difficultly Level

nah, you're looking more like last week of may I'd bet. maybe the week before if they are quick about it... which they are not.

April 2018 Power PE Difficultly Level

This was exactly how i felt last October, I use the boxing analogy everytime someone asks what the PE exam is like. I had a similar scoring system, mine was 90% for confident answers, 50% for 50/50 and 25% for guesses. I think I remember after the test calculating 78% on how I felt. Ended up...

    PE Application - Texas

I got my paper certificate around two or so weeks after my email from the board. It came with paper printouts of all of the forms that I received in the email about making your seal so it doesn't look like it's dependent on sending in a seal imprint. I did get my pocket card about a week after I...

One week out from the test advice

Also something I was not ready for: I opened up the test and panicked thinking "I don't know any of these", it felt like a right hook in a prize fight. After going through the test and gaining confidence with those easy ones I was able to go back and look at the ones that I was sure I didn't...

One week out from the test advice

This was my strategy: First go through the test and answer every question that you can do in under 10 seconds, it's something you just know you don't have to look anything up... there should be a few of these. Next go through and answer ever question you can do in under 1 minute. These...

How many pages was your SER?

Depends on how much experience you're accounting for but I personally just submitted my first time application via the NCEES council record and had the equivalent of about 2-3 pages of info for my SER portion... made it through Technical review in 1 day... I'd just be as detailed as you can be...

One week out from the test advice

I would strongly advise against reading the NCEES practice exams the morning of or the night before. And if you do choose to do that make sure you read every question in the real test very carefully. I personally think that cramming will do more to hurt you than help you. Just relax and have...

    April 2018 PE Exam

Unfortunately the test assumes that you conform to industry standards that aren't really well taught in undergrad. L-L is one, another one to remember is that when using pu if an S base is not given assume 100MVA as the default S base. These are things I was never told in school but had to...

One week out from the test advice

This weekend: -Take a simulated exam if you have yet to do so, -make sure your materials are all tabbed and you are familiar with everything you are taking -Brush up on any topics you think you are almost there on Next Week: Monday and tuesday continue studying things you need work on...

    April 2018 PE Exam

You might consider borrowing a copy of NFPA 70e from the library, there is a good chance there will be more than one question on it. I was sure glad i brought it. They were easy questions since I had the book.

As far as voltages they are all given in L-L unless otherwise stated... hope that helps

    Home brew Beer

I had never used the S-04 yeast until my last brew day, made a SMASH bitter and man did that thing take off. One of the most vigorous fermentations I've ever seen. It was a real hit to my liquid yeast snobbery

    Two versions of PE Seal

Congrats! Don't forget to send that new seal in to be approved!

    The exam's biggest topic: Protection

I wouldn't be too worried about not having either arc flash experience or coordination experience... just know the general idea behind coordination (you want close in to the fault to clear first then upstream in radial cases) Know the big ANSI Device codes (50/51/27/59/79/81/21 etc.). know how...

    Two versions of PE Seal

I absolutely agree, when in doubt use what is on your license. Texas does however allow for the use of middle initial: 137.31(d) All seals obtained and used by license holders shall contain any given name, commonly accepted variation of the given name, or initial combination with the surname...

    The exam's biggest topic: Protection

Honestly for all it's holes I'd say graffeo was the most used. But I also used the PPI book a lot too. There are a whole lot of questions you can answer in under a minute by just looking up a formula in one of those two books.
