    Grounding Rods

    exactly the one yup!

    Grounding Rods

Thanks this is a great explanation. NCEES practice 77 trapped me with this if anyone wants to practice with it

    Grounding Rods

I agree with you, if you increase the length or diameter the resistance decreases. I was also tripped up by this, I think it's definitely a wording thing here at play

    Electrical PE Review Practice Exam

I think it's because that's the ground fault value, not the impedance value of the system

Behavior of Synchronous and Induction Machines Question

Hey all,  I'm trying to conceptually understand Synchronous and Induction machine behavior a bit more. Is my current thinking correct? If you're adding a bigger load to a motor; An induction motor's speed and frequency is lowered due to need for a larger torque via the torque relationships...

Silly question about standard dielectric absorption ratio

Like PEExam123 said, I'd assume they're good. Not sure if we'd get that on the actual test though since the handbook doesnt give us those ranges. hmm

    Transformer Saturation Question

Wondering if I misinterpreted this then. I'm understanding it this way: If a 60Hz Voltage is passing through something rated for 30Hz the Voltage will be higher than the voltage rating for the 30Hz thus saturating the transformer.

    Transformer Saturation Question

That's correct it will  saturate because of the Voltage to Hertz ration (V/Hz). So when you have a voltage on top and the frequency is changed to something smaller, the ratio gets bigger which leads to saturation. Therefore to avoid saturation you have to decrease voltage by the same percentage...

    Corner-Grounded Delta System Question

Hmm I'm thinking something like this? (Sorry I reused your diagram lol)

NCEES exam problem 129. I am now freaking out about voltage drop

Sorry to revive an older topic but looking at the NEC handbook example we also do not use the complex values  if the PF=.85, is this correct? So just use magnitudes when doing voltage drops for either .85 PF or =/= .85 PF?

    Corner-Grounded Delta System Question

Are we going to have line current through the 2 grounded phases and a phase current through the delta phase ungrounded?

    Corner-Grounded Delta System Question

Will be following this.. was pretty confused seeing this pop up on the NCEES practice

NCEES exam problem 129. I am now freaking out about voltage drop

Thanks, all this time the numbers have been working out for me except for this question. I feel lucky I caught this mistake before it was too late lol

NCEES exam problem 129. I am now freaking out about voltage drop

For the bolded part why did you drop to i imaginary term for .012*sin(cos^-1(.8))? with it I get a completely different answer

How to find line current of the generator?

Not sure where this one is from but I worked some from the complex imaginary books to practice

How to find line current of the generator?

I went over my motor stuff yesterday since I bombed this question lol but now I feel a bit more confident. I always forget the sqrt(3) so what I try to do in write the subscripts for all my voltages so I know when I'm getting line and phase
  17. D

How to find line current of the generator?

    Is the answer 65817.93A? I did S_3phase = (rad(3))(V_line)(I_line)

    PE Power New CBT Exam

That's an awesome list! thanks. I'm gonna try to get the Cram for Exam and EngineeringProGuide exams based of this

    PE Power New CBT Exam

Hope it goes well. Can you compare the difficulty to any of the practice exams you took? I have all the same material so just want a gauge. I feel like Zach's test is brutal but filled with so much good info
