    Question on References and Courses

The NEC code/drill book that I used is published by Complex Imaginary. Very good reference.

Want to buy the Georgia Tech Manual

Kovz..............Everytime I see your avatar it reminds me that I want to put glasses on my dog.

Want to buy the Georgia Tech Manual

I can't praise the full course enough. I ended up expanding the manual into two huge 3-ring binders. It has too much sentimental value for me to sell but if I did sell, and include the extras, the cost would close to that of the full course.

    Camara Power Book is Useless

Good for you! That's got to be a record.

Why do civil engineers have to take so many exams?

I'm an EE so I won't even pretend to be an expert on civil but, to go along with Phecke about how CE's have to deal with the public and governemnt, aren't most of your private consulting firms CE based? That's going to automatically require more of them to be licensed anyway. Correct? I...

    best review course

Not a fan of MGI. IMHO, there's a reason it's almost half the cost of GA Tech. I liked the idea of the mini-exams but the problems really did not correlate with the actual exam problems. I also felt the material was sparse I ordered it but decided to abandon it and go with GA Tech which was...

School of PE review course review or Kaplan review course

Even though I went with GA Tech I've heard good things about School of PE. I don't know much about Kaplan's course but I am not a fan of their book. The problems are not at all like the exam problems.

How I prepared for the PE Power exam...

Below is a copy of an earlier post of mine. I passed in April '14. I took the GA Tech course and, if you allow me to share, here's how I approached it. Just know that I graduated from college 25 years ago. I took the the PE twice almost 17 years ago and did not pass. I allowed myself 4-1/2...

Back To The Drawing Board Again

GA Tech is a good course. I took it and passed in April'14. Helped frame my study method.

Club for people who passed April 2015

Congratulations! For what it's worth I don't think you overstudied.

Club of people who failed April 2015

I am EE Power but I am not a fan of MGI. I ordered it because it was the least expensive and found you get what you pay for. I ended uping GA Tech's EE course for Power. Not sure if they have one for Civil but I have heard good things about School of PE.

Club of people who failed April 2015

I failed twice in the latter part of the nineties. Got gun shy and did not make another attempt until April 2014. Passed. The biggest difference that time was the existence of the internet an YouTube. In addition to GA Tech course/Complex Imaginary/Spinup. It can be done even for an old fart...

    PE License? MS?

I would agree with catinthehat. I work in the utility industry. My workgroup's main focus is helping industrial customers be more efficient and productive (lab test for industrial processes, energy/air audits, keeping them informed of the latest technologies, etc.). I feel that the PE gives...

    P.E. or PE

Even though my name says P.E. As you can tell, it's no big deal for M.E.

    P.E. or PE

    I prefer PE for ME.

April PE - What did you think?

I used a similiar strategy in April 2014. Worked like a charm. Picked it up from the Spinup book.

April PE - What did you think?

Did a test. Had the same problem. Looks like Ship Wreck has the right idea.

April PE - What did you think?

mramos.............I know I'm not answering your specific question but the GaTech was very helpful for the April 2014 exam (last year). Provided a good basic knowledge that prepared me well for all the sample exams I took. This worked well for me in that I graduated in the late '80's and had...

April PE - What did you think?

if you look at the NCEES website under "Exams" and "Scoring Process" they "explain". For all practical purposes it is a curve although I think my wife, who is familiar with scoring processes, used another name for it. Bottom line Kovz, I agree with Khaled that you may have done better than you...

April PE - What did you think?

Good point about the experience. On my first attempts, back in the 90's, I had my 5 years of EE experience but after not passing I realized that my experience did not match up as well they needed to be. My field experience had more to do with mechanical and civil than it did with electrical...
