    Mechanical/HVAC PE Crazy problems

Sounds scary if all the material in the MERM is fair game, especially for the Morning section. I hope it is easy enough so that I can answer it within the time limit just by looking in the MERM.

    Polymers

Thank you for the reply and you are right. I am very comfortable with the rate tables, tax rate, depreciation stuff. So far the problems I have encountered on economics other than MERM didn't deviate problems from these areas. I went through most of the problems on MERM and PP on early stage of...

    Polymers

NCEES practice exams asking just to find EUAC and a simple problem about depreciation. But MERM covers a lot of topics and goes deep. Should I go with MERM or just cover the basic problems.

MD study for TF exam takers

Nice! sounds like a solid preparation. I did an attempt to solve the SMS MD problems but made the mistake of trying to solve them, which discouraged me and I gave up, Maybe I'll go back on it later. I took NCEES 2008 and 2001 under simulated and timed condition, didn't do very well but after...

MD study for TF exam takers

How is your preparation on the TF depth? I just reviewed MERM MD once and don't feel like I can manage to do it again, I got a whole lot to work on the depth part. By the way, I am taking TF depth too.

4 weeks to go; How is everyone doing?

Your approach to work thru the MERM problems sounds effective to me. I wish I could do something similar when I was going through the MERM. But now I am more focusing on SMS, NCEES and I don't think I have enough time to go back on the MERM problems again. Maybe on my depth section I will work...

4 weeks to go; How is everyone doing?

Thank you for opening this thread starquest. My depth is TF. It takes me around 9-10 minutes to solve a problem, I need to work on my pacing. And of course I'm making a lot of embarrassing mistakes, which needs to be taken care off as well. I went through MERM chapters 14-60 once but I do not...

Repeat Mechanical PE Exam Advice ...

Hey, You should post this on Mechanical PE exam prep forum. You'll more likely to get response there and also it would be a guideline/resource for future mechanical PE exam test takers. By the way, I am taking mechanical PE exam this April 2016. -Thank You

    Mechanical T/F

Thanks for the advice. I have encountered one or two problems on SMS about three phase motors but I'll review that section on MERM for sure.

    Mechanical T/F

I just did a quick review for the breadth chapters on merm except the Plant engineering section. It looks like a lot of contents on plant engineering section and not sure what exactly I need to review, thinking about rather spending my valuable study time on the TF depth section.

    Mechanical T/F- Beam Bending?

I just finished my first pass thru SMS, I worked on all T/F depth problems and only the breadth problems on HVAC and MD. I am just relying on MERM for all my reference, I do not want to carry too many books/reference on the exam. There are couple of problems in SMS of which I did not find...

    Mechanical T/F- Beam Bending?

What to do about the codes/standards for T&F depth? I can see few problems about codes/standards on SMS TF (problems 80-85), but these problems are on Pressure vessel and Journal bearings. SMS solved these problems by using Sighleys md, or certain ASME codes which MERM doesn't cover.

Help identify equations from 6MS for Thermal/Fluids

Yeah SMS offers dubious explanation on couple of problems, but overall I have found its problems are very realistic compare to MERM and its companion problems.

Help identify equations from 6MS for Thermal/Fluids

For problem 67 the closest equation that I have encountered is equation 32:18 on MERM, but this is an energy equation not power.

    Mechanical T/F- Beam Bending?

I was fortunate that I found one from this board. I do hope you'll find one too.

    Mechanical T/F- Beam Bending?

Hey I am taking the April 2016 T/F test too. I just went through MERM for the breadth (HVAC, MD). I have found that beam bending/shear force diagrams are pretty straightforward and you will understand these topics easily after just a quick review. I assume for the breadth exam we do not have to...

How I Passed the Thermal / Fluid PE exam

Mark's standard handbook looks good. I may just get this book for the exam. One of my friend who just passed October 2015 civil transportation have the same opinion as you. She said in exam she found terms and phrases that she had no idea of on at least 4 problems and which MERM does not use...

FE reference manual for PE morning breath exam

That is a great thread and yeah I heard rave reviews about school of PE.

FE reference manual for PE morning breath exam

I'm taking T&F depth, how would I prepare myself best for the breadth section? I'm not taking any classes or whatsoever.

How I Passed the Thermal / Fluid PE exam

"and they use terms and phrases that Lundeberg doesn't necessarily use or explain in a way that can easily answer their riddle (otherwise it would be pretty easy: hey, they want this... here's where MERM answers it). " Audi, Sounds like a book which explains all the mechanical engineering terms...
