    Snow Removal

Close....my dream car.  68 mustang fastback GT390.    Took me 9 years to talk the former owner into selling it to me....now it awaits restoration

My wife and I talked about that...haha Here it is with the blade on:

    Snow Removal

Does it have a lot of land?  If so, investing in a tractor may be the way to go.   I was in your situation two years back.  I have a 700 ft driveway with 4.5 acres of mostly grass.   The acreage alone forced me into at least a zero turn but I ended up going for a small tractor for its...

    The Automotive Thread

Here is the gun I have; IR 2235TiMax .  It's expensive but I have nothing but good things to say about this thing.   I feel you get what you pay for when it comes to pneumatic tools.  I have a decent compressor running on 220V with about 13cfm at 180psi (I regulate down to 120psi as a result of...

Why Six Minutes per Question is a Sham

I took and passed the exam in April.  I wasn't so much focused on the 6 minute timeframe but you do 'know' when you are starting to take too long on a specific problem.   I found that I had two causes for 'taking too long'; 1) I felt I processed the problem correctly but didn't end up with one...

Worked Practice Problems to Bring to Exam

I brought the best set of every worked problem that I did to the exam (usually was the 2nd pass thru).  I had it organized and tabbed nicely in a binder behind all of my notes.   I referred to these several times on the exam.  Of course I also brought the problem books to the exam as well.   ...

    Mechanical Standard-Setting Study for PE

What did the 2 day study entail?   I pictured it almost like retaking the exam and ranking each problem based on a defined set of questions.

    Tough criticism and Prep Help

Don't doubt yourself!   You are kicking ass with the preparation.  There will always be certain subjects of weakness...and I can attest to the combustion section, haha.  My advice is to not worry about timing yourself on any of the practice tests.  All it will do is upset you.  Treat them...

    One month to go...

Sounds like you are right on track if you ask me.  I'd get on econ asap.  I didn't focus too much on the MERM econ problems.  Instead, I used the SMS books and a few items I found online.   Honestly, these problems are the easiest you will see on the exam...know them good for they are free...

    Refrigerant enthalpy diagrams

Oh I remember that question.  I went searching for NH3 tables on the net for awhile...ended up skipping it entirely.

    MERM Practice Problems

Here is what worked for me (quoted from a thread of mine earlier in the year in preparation for the April 16 exam).   I started this approach AFTER the fluids section. I had similar feelings as you as I was trying to grind away thru fluids.  Once I started this tactic, it went much smoother. ...

    MERM Practice Problems

I'd continue plugging thru the MERM companion problems.   Get through them now, you don't want to be working on these come the week of the exam, believe me.  They will just frustrate the heck out of you.   Use the solutions to aide you, don't feel bad about that!   And to make you feel better...

Don't be scared off by the studying

That is some pretty good logic/advice.  I will say that I'm very impressed about your results.  It took me 23 hours alone to do the first pass of the ncees sample exam and an additional 35 hours to do the first pass of the MSM 6MS.   Although I only fit one of your four criteria (traditionally...

Mechanical Engineering -- HVAC Tips and Hints

Welcome to the board. I'd advise following Ramnares' study approach here.  Although it was initially intended for TFS, it has been a proven method for all three ME exams.  Here is one for HVAC specific...note the similarities with Ram's approach I have no experience with the HVAC PM portion...

How I Passed the Thermal / Fluid PE exam

For the alternate route on the MSM 6MS, I think I misworded my intentions earlier.  I would NOT advise doing the 6MS without utilizing the MERM.  I simply would not read over the MERM prior to starting the 6MS, start cold with both books but definitely use the MERM to help solve the 6MS...

    PA RELEASED ON PCS WEBSITE!!!

Well, as expected, I received the wall cert but not the license and card.   Guess I'll be calling the board this week.   Unsettling to know that these are in the hands of some stranger now after being sent to the wrong address

    PA RELEASED ON PCS WEBSITE!!!

BTW, I took the PA supplied PDH Activity Log and converted it to Excel format...for those who are interested.  I know we are exempt for the first partial cycle but I'm going to get into a habit of documenting work related conferences, seminars, lunch-n-learn sessions, etc. now.

    PA RELEASED ON PCS WEBSITE!!!

Nope.  Very odd, she specifically told me they went in the mail last week.

    PA RELEASED ON PCS WEBSITE!!!

Here is the wording from the PA Continuing Education Provision laws: Law - Continuing Education Provisions Unless I'm misinterpreting something, we are exempt for this cycle.
