    Prometric CBT Centers Temporarily Closed

That's what I was afraid of. Hopefully I get a good one!

    Prometric CBT Centers Temporarily Closed

Did you have a choice for your new testing date? I haven't heard from them, still, and am curious if they'll just hand me a date or let me pick a new one.

Everything you wanted to know about the CA-Survey/Seismic Civil PE Exams

I've searched online but can't seem to find the answer - in cases where the IBC and ASCE codes differ, which one governs? For some reason I have it in my head that it's ASCE, but I'm not sure where I got that from...

    Prometric CBT Centers Temporarily Closed

I just spoke to someone from BPELSG and they said that anyone approved to test in Q1 will be able to reschedule for any date within Q2 (after Prometric test centers open again), as opposed to extending their window by a month or something like that.

    Prometric CBT Centers Temporarily Closed

I was authorized for Q1 2020 (January to March). Does that mean I won't easily be able to reschedule to dates in Q2? My main question, I guess, was what others who were affected by the cancellations were planning on doing. I haven't been contacted by Prometric to reschedule yet, so I'm not sure...

    Prometric CBT Centers Temporarily Closed

For those affected by this, when are you planning to reschedule tests to? I was supposed to take Seismic on the 28th of March, but now might aim to reschedule for late April. However, since it's not certain they'll be open after mid-April, I'm not sure I want to take that chance and might just...

Is CA PE more recognized as compared to other state's PE

Yes, absolutely true. Also, I'm not sure if other states have requirements for hours of engineering-related training/classes to keep your license renewed. California doesn't, so that may be another difference.

Is CA PE more recognized as compared to other state's PE

Californian here. 👋 Yes, we do have to take the additional tests for California licenses due to the stricter seismic codes etc. Where I work, we have an entire department dedicated to seismic design/research, and it's considered for almost everything we do. It's not quite as clear for the...

    California PE Civil license requirements

You'll need 2 years of approved qualifying experience, signed off by at least 4 civil PEs, and passing scores on the NCEES national exam as well as the CA surveying and seismic exam. If you look it up, you'll find lots of information - here's a link to the BPELSG website and...

    CA Seismic Q2 Authorization

You likely won't get an email from them until a few weeks before your testing quarter begins. Assuming you're testing in Q2, you'll probably get your Authorization to Test closer to mid-March.

    Survey Exam - Public Lands?

I didn't think that asking about a general topic was specific enough to be an issue. Thanks for the heads up.

CA surveying exam results January 2020

Yep, that's exactly how it works. A lot of people recommend taking your exams as close to the end of each month as you can, so that you don't have to wait as long for results. Another thing to note is that if you take your exam within the last month of a quarter, you won't find out results...

    Seismic References

Good thing I'm just getting started with studying. 🙂 I was looking more for suggestions/past experiences to see how people felt about certain chapters and how helpful they were. I don't see how that's any different than asking about reference manual/course recommendations. Thank you for your...

    SOLD

Hi all!  I just passed the California State Surveying Exam for Civil Engineers, and therefore am no longer in need of the references that I used. I'm selling a Mansour reference manual and practice exam booklet as well as a "Definitions of Surveying and Associated Terms", all of which I feel...

Congrats to everyone for Seismic! Waiting on Surveying, of course that's the one taking forever. 😆

CA surveying exam results January 2020

I was so torn when figuring out which reference manual to get. I ended up going with the EET manual, and have heard a lot of good things about it.  It's all new to me, so I guess I won't even know if anything is missing from the book until I get to the test and it's too late. 😃

CA surveying exam results January 2020

I am! I've never dealt with seismic before so I knew I would need time in between surveying and seismic to study. But if I don't pass surveying, my motivation to study for seismic is going to go down the toilet.

CA surveying exam results January 2020

I think we just have to be patient and wait for the results to come. I don't think that calling will get results any quicker, unfortunately.
