    NCEES 519 Fourier Series

Maybe your formula is wrong. I think the terms should be in the form sin(2*n*pi*f*t). Anyway, I can't read Grosbeck's sheet but it's probably in there. I can't get it to enlarge and I guess my eyes are bad. I'm afraid I completely confused things because I believed that link I sent you. I...

    NCEES 519 Fourier Series

Sorry to confuse again. 2*pi*f is the angular frequency, but you don't necessarily need to know that. Even if you start with 2*n*pi*t/T the 2s should still cancel out - the 2 in the numerator from the formula should cancel out fromthe 2 in the denominator from the period T=2). Doesn't it?.

    NCEES 519 Fourier Series

THe 3.14t and the 9.23t should be n*pi*t with n = 1 and 3 (the odd coefficients for bn = n=1, n=3, etc. You get that by substituing for nwt in the sine. Of course, 9.23 is not 3*pi so maybe back to the drawing board for me. It seems like it should be 9.42t You should not have a 2 in the...

    NCEES 519 Fourier Series

Yeah - I think you already knew what I wrote in my post, so I wasn't much help. I'm having a little trouble figuring out how they came up with the coefficients myself (although they seem to generally match what's inthe standard format), but I'm sure I must be overcomplicating it. But now I...

    NCEES 519 Fourier Series

^^^ schmidty, I may be wrong but I think the problem is that to calculate the coefficients you need to calculate the integral of the Heaviside Step function times sine(n*pi*x). This may requires integration by parts, giving you a sin squared term somewhere. Although there may be a trick to...

    NCEES 519 Fourier Series

Yeah, maybe. I think more acurately you are confusing two things that you need to keep separate. I'm not sure it's entirely true to say this, but for simplicity sake - The SINE in the terms is not the SINE you use to calculate the coefficients. They are two separate things. Separate it in...

    NCEES 519 Fourier Series

I'm not sure what you're trying to find. Here is what you say in your post - As you know, you don't need to do any integration to get the symmetry - you can tell that by looking at the figure. Maybe. As far as the coefficients, the answer you give here is the entire series. The coefficients...

    NCEES 519 Fourier Series

Does this help - http://mathworld.wolfram.com/FourierSeriesSquareWave.html You may have already seen this. For a square wave it might make sense to just memorize (or write down in your notes) the formulation of the terms - it's a pretty common type of problem. Integration is a universal...

    CA certificates?

Because they want your money. They'll bill you a few months adfter your first get your license. After that it's every two years.

    CA certificates?

8.5 x 11. It's okay, not super fancy. If you got the EIT in California recently it is identical to that;.

    CA certificates?

You will get a wall cert. You might get a plastic card later - I got one last year. You guys are overanalyzing this paper card. Carry it if you want, don't if you don't want to. As long as you legally have a license all you really need is your stamp.

I want to become an environmental engineer??

I suggest you PM a member named ironman. I believe he could supply you with a good deal of valuable aviation and engineering information, and you two should really hit it off. If nothing else the two of you could collaborate on a writing style manual.

If you know everything why are you asking the questions?

    Oscar Picks

I haven't seen any of these movies except "The Social Network" which I saw yesterday. All I can say is that I think the story is interesting but the movie was really annoying. Aaron Sorkin's frenetic dialog really grates on me, especially since "The West Wing." The only movies of the bunch...

    Post PE - What next?

I'm going to take the CRE (Certified Reliability Engineer) sometime this year. It looks fairly trivial compared to the PE. I took the PE five years ago, and have been planning to take this but keep putting it off because I don't want to spend the money. I am in a regulatory/reliability type...

Sometimes you just need to scream!!!

aaaa!!! I already filed my tax returns and got my refund. Now, February 19, I get a 1099-DIV from a small brokerage account I forgot about with $200 in dividends. So I've got to file an amended return to pay about $20 in tax back.

    Bode Plots

I don't have the problem, but I can visualize it and I suspect the reason is because the impedance of a Cap Zc = 1/jwC (the reciprocal). So you are using ohms law but dividing by the reciprocal - - I = V/Zc = V/(1/jwC) = V*jwC. THe impedance of a coil is jwL. Is this a low pass filter...

Maybe the new governor decided certificates were too expensive. http://blogs.sacbee.com/capitolalertlatest...tate-to-st.html

Surprisingly, it's also my birthday. Three people on the same forum. Who'd da thunk. HB to all of us.
