    Quantity Take Off Methods

I always stated that the Quantity take-offs are relatively simple (common sense) however, I would still recommend for an engineer to review the topic for the AM portion before the exam. But definitely agree don’t spend more than an hour studying it…just understand a couple points and move on.

Which afternoon module for the Civil PE is easiest?

Where did you see on the NCEES website that the afternoon construction and transportation Exams are changing? Also you have some time to decide, you shouldn't really buy your references until November. So just look over the depth portions of each afternoon module you are thinking about. Then...

PE Civil Exam chaging in April 2013

I wouldn't say the PE Exam is changing, NCEES is just updating the required references/standards. But I haven't heard anything about the exam format changing.

PE Civil in April 2013 - What to do?

I agree with ptatohed, the books you have listed have nothing to do with the standards that will change. So feel free to buy those now if you want. Also I don't know if you need both the CERM13 and All-in-One Guide. I would just go with the CERM however, if money isn't an issue the more the...

    Quantity Take Off Methods

I would agrue that the Quantity take off in the PM is also just common sense. But then again, common sense is not that common :2cents:

    Quantity Take Off Methods

Quantity Take off is the first step required when estimating costs for a project. As stated before you need to review plans/or narratives and be able to figure out how many CYs of soil must be moved, how many lbs of steel is required, how many CF of mortar is required, what is the square...

    PMP Certification

I agree with rrui00 you do not need a review course, I took the PMP test last year because my application for the PE exam didn't get approved and I passed easily. All I did was read <a...

How to Pass the Civil PE Construction

I definitely recommend bringing in practice problems. I not only brought in the ones I did, I also brought in all the practice problem books with the solved problems in the back. I probably only studied for 100 hours, so I didn’t have time do as many problems. You shouldn’t try to find the...

How did you study with young kids at home?

I agree with MA_PE, you put the kid(s) to bed at 800pm, and you can study for 1-2 hrs before you go to bed. That is what I did, also on the weekends you try to wake up eariler than the family and get your 1-2 hours in the morning so you can enjoy the rest of the day. I don't believe in 3-4...

I agree 100% with her advise, you follow that and you really should pass the exam - 1st try. Also check out my website at www.learncivilengineering.com, where I expanded on some of her same ideas and added some great free references and tips.

    Shoring and Reshoring

Dano, It probably doesn't matter to you anymore, since the test is over and I am sure you figured this one out on your own. But just to close the loop for this comment in case someone else was wondering the same thing. In Part 6 of this problem, Slab 3 is not "wet", it is assuming that all...

    Challenging Exam Questions

Jayman_10x - you probably are right however, at the time it just seemed like multiple right answers with no best answer. I did try for the most right(which actually I forgot what I put now), but I thought it was a pretty tricky question.

    Challenging Exam Questions

Yes I remember one question in the am for civil that was had multiple right answers according to the CERM. I am guessing that they will throw that one out. I have faith they will get it right, why else would they spend 6-10 checking/rechecking results. I am not that worried about it...

"Do you know that the construction module is the easiest?" ?

I like the logo for Ace the PE too, but I don't understand the comment "clothing optional", are you seeing something that I don't.

It is about that time to start studying for the PE Exam!

We are coming up to the 5 months before the exam again, I think it is time to buckle down and start studying (again), or at least getting all the reference material. I found these three resources that help for studying and scheduling time, 1. http://engineeringregistration.tamu.edu, 2...
