    New York State

States do not have the ability to alter cut scores since it's a national exam. The cut scores are determined by NCEES, period. Some states just prefer to review the results before releasing them, and some states have bylaws that would require them to have a board meeting. Like NYMechEng said...

    Careful...

I passed in April 2012 but I asked a couple friends who took the October 2012 exam how it compared and they said the content changed pretty dramatically. They didn't get into any specifics with me but I heard the qualitative questions were very different compared to previous exams. I think...

    Re: Reviewing References

The exam's on the 26th so it's been a month since akg asked originally. I studied for a lot longer than that, but I did most of my serious studying within the last three weeks so it's not that crazy. Good luck, akg and all the other October test-takers. You're headed into crunch time, but...

    Oct 2012

HVAC is not even a topic listed on the exam specifications breakdown, although I suppose it's related to Indoor Air Quality under Environmental Health and Safety and possibly Pollution Control. I took an HVAC course in college, randomly enough, and I don't recall seeing anything I'd categorize...

    FE Environmental Engineering

Have you used the PPI books? That's all I used to study. The one for the morning and then the smaller book for environmental. ISBN is 978-1-59126-018-9, and I see they have another book out now too, ISBN 978-1-932613-45-2, that's strictly practice problems.

    Other board book

I used 101 Solved Problems, which I think was the first edition. It, along with the NCEES practice exam, was my primary practice problem source. I highly recommend it. It's not exactly like the exam, but it covers a lot of topics I hadn't come across elsewhere in my studying. I spent some...

    Oct 2012

You're fine with that edition. I used the same one and frankly it's probably better to have just the single volume with you than three anyways.

    Landfill design textbook?

I just took the exam in April and agree with VTEnviro. After seeing the questions on the NCEES practice exam I scrambled to find a reference but it slipped through the cracks and I forgot about it. I didn't have any questions like that. I did find Basic Environmental Technology by Nathanson...

Is there anyone who passed NY PE but whose name is not on the list yet?

I was in the big group of updates today too. Hooray! Now I just need my certificate. I have coworkers who already received theirs, so hopefully it'll be here this week.

Does one time a year exam in Oregon affect number of resident PEs

I think the point was that with Oregon's former registration dates, if you failed the exam you had to wait an entire year to retest. The latest post was to say that they have updated their forms to extend the registration deadlines to fix this problem.

How did you study with young kids at home?

Or a husband or other family. The OP is a woman, after all. :wave2: Just to clarify, I'm not all GRRR about this. Just teasing!

    Moonlighting/Charitable work w/ PE license

You should check out Engineers Without Borders. They do projects locally and internationally, and if you submit your project to the national organization and meet their requirements, they provide the E&O insurance. I'm involved with my local professional chapter, and we do some crossover...

Did anyone receive the NY PE certificate?

My name isn't on the website yet but I do know someone from the April 2012 exam whose name is posted. I haven't received anything from the state yet, but the NCEES notice said it would take 3 weeks for NY to review the license status and that's all it's been so far. If you call, let us know...

    NY is in!

Up to 090864, maybe they're still there adding them? I just search by license number under the Engineers option and keep trying increasing numbers.

    NY is in!

They've added quite a few and I know they're from April 2012 (I recognized a name), but mine isn't up yet. Up to 090851 now.

    Practice Problems - which ones?

    Very true! I had several.
