    Licensure In Other States

Just got the bad news, from CA at least. We would have to go backward and take the 8-hr civil PE regardless. My assumption is the same would be true for the other SE states mentioned above that require explicitly a Civil PE as part of their SE requirements, since I think that's the only reason...

    Licensure In Other States

Sure, we're a PE, but the question is: are we explicitly a "civil" PE. Some of the SE states require explicitly a Civil PE first before gaining the SE (whereas some just require a PE without any explicit mention of branch). And when you look at their requirements for in-state residents, that...

Missed that. Hey, thanks Ble. The notes were a big help / time saver. McEngr, yeah I have that message too. Again with the registration stuff I assure you they're not that sophisticated in their coordination! I'd tell you to stop worrying and over-thinking it, but I know how it feels. Do...

McEngr: Makes complete sense. I heard OR gutted their state constitution and re-wrote all of their existing laws on Wednesday morning. Sarcasm-free translation: WHAT!?!? Gotta be kidding!

Thanks for the info Kevo. Yeah hey, well, I'm so old I remember when they said the point of this new exam was to simplify the comity process :)

Yeah, both a week ago and even now after getting my results, when I log onto my NCEES account it reads in big bold "October 2012 registration details" and below that "You have not registered for any exams" So don't read into that - they're not that sophisticated in their coordination (no...

SE Exam Review Courses - Fall 2012

Definitely to each his or her own. Congrats on passing, pittguy!! Chosen, I'd only add that I, too, was weak in exactly those same areas since I rarely if ever use them, and "taught" (or rather re-taught) them to myself - I found SERM to be adequate for getting back up to speed on the basics...

    Licensure In Other States

I think that's understood, and is the desire here. The problem people like jfluckey and I face with this new 16-hr SE exam is that we practice in states that don't have separate SE designation, so we're still "just" a PE in our home state. Since many of us feel like getting the SE title since...

    Lateral Study Schedule

Just wanted to push this post back up top, since I think ibbo's advice in these comments is so thorough and worth its... character count(?)...in gold. I followed his advice pretty religiously and passed both days on the first try as well.

Step 1 complete...just got my Ron Swanson on by consuming a perfect mid rare porterhouse and a tub of some nice single malt on the rocks. Step 2...shortly! Definitely feel your pain. Don't know why WI was so slow. At last OR has a reason. It's in the bag for you though, I'm 100% positive of...

Recommended Study Material - Analysis and Methods

See what I just posted here: http://engineerboard...dpost&p=6965801 The Kaplan (Williams) book had a ton of "method and analysis" type problems. So did "Structural Engineering Solved Problems" from PPI. Adding...I don't think it's a coincidence that Kaplan book proved helpful. It's made...

    PM portion guidance

Everyone's different in what works for them, but what I can tell you guys is that I followed every single word of this guy's study recommendations, to the letter, without variation, and it worked for both of us as we each passed both days the first try. The plan required sacrificing a ton of...

WI - passed both on the first try. I'm shocked. Lost more and more confidence as time passed since the exam, and was starting to lay the groundwork for studying again. Had to be the morning portions that carried me through. Special thanks to McEngr for all your encouragement and questions as...

SE Exam Review Courses - Fall 2012

I'll be honest...I don't think any review courses are worthy of your money. 2 reasons: 1) The most important type of review is working through sample problems, which does not encompass the review courses. 2) The time needed outside of working samples, needed to "relearn" stuff, can just as...

NCEES has posted national pass rates. 1st timers: 45% vertical, 46% lateral. Repeats: 34% vertical, 40% lateral. If my remedial statistics are correct (they may not be!) that means a 1st timer taking both days would have a 0.45*0.46=0.21 = 21% expected pass rate, right?

NCEES confirmed Wisconsin allows NCEES to release results, but hasn't given them the go-ahead to do it yet. Brutal. But not as brutal as Oregon, there, McEngr. My condolences!

Congrats to the passers! A big feat to be proud of. Layman, you'll get it next time. A couple more multiple choicers and you're surely there. WI hasn't been released yet. Guess starting tomorrow morning it's time to put my NCEES account page on 1 minute interval auto-refresh.
