    Obama's speech, 2-9-09

my daughter reads Calvin and Hobbes ALL the time. It's my FIL's all-time favorite, and he has a bunch of the books. He has given a couple of them to her. She's only 8 so she doesn't understand a lot of it, but it's big on pseudo-political stuff.

Six minute solutions...question about depth sections

I wouldn't worry about doing the depth questions for the other disciplines. Yes, your afternoon exam will have questions that are related to the other disciplines... but it's unlikely that they will be as in-depth as the 6min depth questions.

Georgia PE exam location has changed!!!

I know a lot of states offer the FE at Universities. It makes sense, a lot of engineering students take the FE during their senior year of school (some programs require it)... I'm guessing that fewer people would take it then if they had to travel to take it.

    References for the Construction Depth

I don't know about the construction references... but I know that obtaining all of the structural references set me back quite a bit of $$$. Believe me, IT WAS WORTH IT!!! Sure, after the exam, I realized that I probably could have done without one or two of the recommended references... but it...

Because answering the same question over and over makes the veterens of the board not want to answer questions any more.

    Structural Design Engineer

before I apply for this... can you answer a few questions? 1 - is there any travel involved? (my husband travels often for his work, and with 2 kids, coordinating travel schedules could get tricky) 2 - is there a possibility of mandatory overtime and/or weekends? (again, because of my...

How much for an engagement ring?

I honestly have no clue how much my ring cost... but I like it and that's all that really matters :) I didn't wear it for most of my pregnancy because of swelling... hubby hated that I wasn't wearing it, so I put it on a necklace.

Programmable HP 33s yes or no

I'm guessing that he is trying to learn how to use his calculator for the exam... from HP, only the 33s and the 35s are permitted... so telling him to stick with a "standard scientific calculator" doesn't really help much.

Sometimes you just need to scream!!!

Mine was a nail through the tread... just about dead center of the tire, so easy to fix. They did not charge anything for the repair. I was surprised. We bought the car 3 months ago from carmax, so no warranty... the guy just said "remember us when it's time to replace all of the tires, in...

Sometimes you just need to scream!!!

I know that some people are anti-patching/plugging... but I had my tire patched last week. The guy at NTB said that as long as the tire is in good shape otherwise, patching from the inside is very effective. Considering that he could have made a sale if he had told me that it was not safe, I...

why do people open the door at the ATM, drive thru, etc

I used to have trouble reaching the buttons on the ATM when I drove my Echo... no problems in the van. I think the problem is that if they are designed for an SUV/van, it's difficult for car drivers... and if it fits a car, it's near impossible for SUV/van/trucks. I still like to use drive...

    Don't Sell Yourself Short!

Really? I'm inching my way closer to 6 figures... but no raises this year (in fact, I feel lucky to still have my job since half of my office has been laid off in the past 45 days) and there's talk of cutting everyone's hours (and pay) by 20%. I have never heard/seen of 6-figures as a starting...
