is the NCEES question book worth getting?

+1 I allowed myself 5 hours for each portion of the Lindeberg exam, and ended up scoring somewhere around a 60%, even with the extra time. OTOH I finished all 40 relevant questions (20 breadth and 20 structural depth) from the NCEES exam in less than 4 hours, and got 31 of them correct. Two...

    GOOD Day.

We do baby Motrin. It lasts longer, and seems to taste a little better. He almost always goes back to sleep within 15 minutes. I had a friend who tried the cry-it-out method when her 7 month old was teething. She said that she didn't want him to become dependent on medicine to sleep. WTF??? I...

    Weekly Poll

I went for the cookies too. I have about a dozen of those little calculators w/ my old company's logo at home. My kids like to play with them, and I keep one in my back pocket when I'm doing field work.

    GOOD Day.

Emergency lighting for parking areas only has to be 1 footcandle... theoretically enough for a "normal-sighted" person to see the path of egress. It is NOT a requirement to provide enough light to see anything, say, 10ft away from you. As a woman, I have argued for (and gotten) additional...

    GOOD Day.

It's my anniversary. We're in the debt reduction phase of our financial plan, so no material gifts this year... but that's OK. I gave hubby his present last night after the kids went to bed if you catch my drift... so everybody woke up happy :)

    STAAD QUESTION

OK. I rarely do anything that isn't "3D", so I've probably never used a "plane" model. Regardless, I think fixing one support location will give you a better idea of how the members will work. As it is, most of your deflection is due to the pin rotation, not the member bending.

    STAAD QUESTION

You are going to HAVE to fix at LEAST one base. The way it is right now, it isn't stable.

    STAAD QUESTION

Have you tried making one of those pins a fixed connection? That, or stick a knee brace in there somewhere.

    how to get stamp/seal

Well said! That is precisely what I tried multiple times to put into words... and never quite got it right.

    Stormwater Engineer Position

Apply for the Sr. position. A lot of companies don't list every position they have open... they collect resumes that are submitted for a "senior" position and then offer mid-level positions to people who aren't quite qualified for the senior position. But, if they list a bunch of mid-level...

    STAAD QUESTION

I'm mostly just going to bump this up for you. Hopefully someone else will see it and be able to answer your question. I have never been successful at getting the deflection stuff to work.

    Sidewalk ?

Concrete on top of asphalt doesn't work very well. They expand and contract differently, and yes, drainage (or lack of) will cause additional problems for your concrete. It actually doesn't matter what the existing pavement is rated for... strength isn't your problem. The fact that they are two...

    Engineers in Exile

I just tried to call, but pressing 1 just got them to continue in English. I didn't know what to select next... So, I went to USPS.com and found this:

    Banks

My debit card is through my credit union. They call me (within 2 hours) if the card is used for anything over $200. And, their written policy is that we are not responsible for ANYTHING that is fraudulently charged to the card.

Anyone have CERM 10th or 11th, Civil/WE/Enviro for sale?

I'm guessing that for $37 you're not gonna get a recent edition. Sorry.

    Pissed Off at the Neighbors

^ Wow! it took over an HOUR for someone to ask! For the record, I do NOT actually own a sex swing OR stripper pole. I was trying to get a reaction... but I didn't think it would take this long!
