Did they at least give you some good drugs? Hope your recovery is quick!

Funny you mention that... I've been having to pull my hair back because hearing my hair rub against the bandage has been driving me crazy! Actually, lots of everyday noises have been driving me nuts. I'm hoping that it doesn't take too long for my brain to get used to getting input from my left...

It'll be nice to be able to talk on the phone without having the volume set so high that my hubby can hear it across the room.

    medical advice needed

Well, right now they have my ear canal packed with a bunch of stuff... so I don't really know how good the hearing will be once that's out. And, the doc said that there will be some swelling for the next couple of days that will affect things. But, I can hear when something rubs against the...

    medical advice needed

Well, I'm back. I didn't pass out, but they did a finger stick on me and my blood sugar level was 43. So, they put me on an IV, even though the surgery got delayed for 2 hours. The IV helped the blood sugar, but didn't help w/ the dry mouth and grumbling stomach... so I was bitchy all day...

Well, tomorrow's the big day. I am nervous, but hopeful. I went in for my pre-op today. My surgery is scheduled for 11am tomorrow... so, they gave me the typical "no food or drink after midnight" speech. My question was, if the surgery was at 7am, they would say the same thing... so why do I...

    GOOD LUCK - and advice

I recently had a phone interview and was asked if I passed the first time. I did, but it threw me off guard because I was expecting any question EXCEPT that one! Uhhh... the exam is TOMORROW!!! not next friday!

    Typical Passing Score (%)?

I'm thinking that "a couple" here means more than 1... and probably less than 5. I know a lot of people think of "a couple" as strictly meaning "2", but in a lot of places, saying "a couple" is just like saying "a few" or "several".

    PAY Cuts!

The way I understand it, I will get the money regardless of whether it's temporary or permanent. The problem is that our stories don't match, which means that the claim can't be processed until everyone has the same boxes checked. It's stupid, but I guess that's just the way bureaucracy works.

Not really. I'm at the point where I can't hear what most people consider to be "normal conversation"... which means I can't hear my kids if they're in the next room. I have a baby monitor that vibrates so I can "hear" the baby if he wakes up at night. I'll admit, sometimes it's nice to be able...

    PAY Cuts!

We got two weeks pay "in lieu of advance notice of the layoff". I'll need to dig out my copy of what I signed. I don't think it said anything about not suing. But, the worst part of the whole thing is that if they offer me a job before I find something else, I HAVE to take it, or lose the...

    medical advice needed

I am scheduled to have surgery to (hopefully) restore my hearing in my left ear one week from tomorrow. I have something called otosclerosis that causes the small bones in my ears to not vibrate correctly, so they don't transmit sound (same thing Grissom had on CSI). Anyway, my pre-op...

    PAY Cuts!

precisely Thanks. Yeah... they also told the unemployment people that it was a temporary layoff, which has delayed my getting my unemployment benefits.

    GOOD Day.

Snick, this is the one time of your life that you are expected to gain weight! Eat the ice cream! My whole pregnancy I was flipping out about how much weight I was gaining... ended up +45lbs. I had lost it all within the first 6 months, and another 12 or so in the next 6 months. Yes, some...

Keep it simple. If you know that certain foods cause tummy issues, avoid them (for the whole week if possible).

    PAY Cuts!

That's when they tell you that you need to take a 10% cut... or look for a new job. MOST of the time, taking a voluntary pay cut gives you a bit of security. As it turns out, the crooked *******s that I used to work for only care about the bottom line. By making us all take pay cuts 3 weeks...
