Control Systems Engineering (CSE) PE Examination books

I believe there were a couple questions on finding the transfer function given the diagram, but not as bad as the ones I had in my study guides. The biggest thing that I wish I had and didn't was a table of ISA standards with a brief synopsis of what it covers.

Control Systems Engineering (CSE) PE Examination books

Get the Liptak books. Nothing helped me more than those books. You can check your local university library and see if you can check them out. Most of your questions on what instrument to use for application X comes out of those books. Also, a book on computer networks and industrial protocols is...

    Exam Day Timings

It really depends on your state and exam site. Having taken it in two different states, I can tell you it was completely different. I think it really has to do with what they are expecting. One time it was exactly how the others explained; the other time I think the testing site was completely...

    --**-- The Infirmary --**--

I think my family could do with a little less sharing. I am once again fighting off a head cold. This time it was my husband who brought it into the house and my daughter helped incubate it.

Yeah, I am not looking forward to that line of storms and how often the models are changing for them. On another note, I was looking at the three day outlook on my phone this morning and saw that while today is in the 70's on Friday there is a chance of snow flurries. WTH?! Seriously? I'm used...

Same thing going on down here too, just offset a bit. It'll be in the 60's today and 70's (!) tomorrow with a chance of severe thunderstorms. Then right back down to winter again. Fun, fun.

We only get 2 sick days on our anniversary date, the rest comes out of vacation time. Oh yeah...and the last two months have really sucked (other than finding out I passed the PE, of course).

New job + in-law visit + horrific colds for both me and MiniSC + MrSC injury = no vacation time I was actually really happy I had accumulated 8 more hrs last week just in time to cover my husbands back injury and 4+ hrs at Urgent Care.

Snow, sleet and ice for us (the trifecta!), 1-2in accumulation since our temps have been highs around 32 and lows in the 20's. I hate that it is going to be in the afternoon, that I work ~30miles from home, and have no vacation time. Gonna be a fun commute tomorrow.

What were your favorite books as a child?

My absolute fav as a little kid was The Curious Little Kitten. MiniSC is loving Ladybug Girl Dresses Up, right now. Mostly b/c she likes to find the page with Lulu as the tiger just so she can hear us say "Roar". Hubby and I joke that every time she brings us the book we here the line from...

And here I was complaining that our lows were going into the 20's & teens this week. I'm a wimp when it comes to cold, which is why I only lasted two winters in Ohio before moving back south to thaw out.

Malicious virus shuttered U.S. power plant

I was speaking more the general idea of an attack to any SCADA system. There is the example Judowolf used. In other industries, such as the water/wastewater industry that I work in, there could be huge environmental and public health concerns. If, as they did with Stuxnet, the virus has the PLC...

Malicious virus shuttered U.S. power plant

Off-line isn't as scary as on-line with an agenda. Actually SCADA security is huge these days as people are finding that much of the hardware and software isn't that secure. Most SCADA system use security by isolation but ignore the whole fact that USB drives are a staple that will bridge the...

Sometimes you just need to scream!!!

You only see your own warning level - not others. No worries.

Would you buy a murder house?

I don't think I could do it. If it was a really good deal, I'd probably think really hard on it and try to be all logical about why I should, but in the end, I just don't think I could.

    Token change for 'Monopoly'

I loved Risk as a kid. We hardly ever played it, though. My sister didn't like it as much and always wanted to play something else. Most of the time we played Monopoly or Careers.
