    SE Exam - 2012 April

http://ncees.org/Exams/SE_exam.php Very surprising that the lateral exam pass rates were higher than the vertical pass rates. I believe that the writers of the exam intended all along to make these exams approximately equal in difficulty. However, I think the lateral exam WAS easier than the...

The Oregon Board will absolutely NOT allow a phone call for test results. I'm surprised that WV does this.

I wondered that too steve. I was thinking that I must have not passed one portion, but who knows... the fact that Bombo_Buster admitted to botching the last problem gives me some hope. It was a problem that, if not under pressure, I could've nailed it - bone-headed mistake. I will be haunted...

    Moment of Inertia Calculator

Honestly, I just use the massprop command in Autocad if I have to. It's always there and doesn't take much more time. Are you trying to sell something? It seems fishy that you would post about this and not ever have any other discussion.

    Today's the day

Today's the day of the workshop put on by NCEES grading all of us wannabe SE's that took the April exams. Best of luck everyone. I've been praying for the reviewers today - that they be fair, not that I necessarily pass. I don't believe God to be a genie in a bottle...

    IBC 2009

We can agree to disagree. The test I took was geared more towards engineering something real than getting a load/code method.

    IBC 2009

Chapter 16-23. Also chapter 34 could prove to be required. Also, secton 109 might be included for permitting/inspection/etc. Ultimately, the test will not quiz you too hard on esoteric code knowledge unless it's located in the ASCE 7.

    Any news on Oregon?

Oregon sucks. They are helpful on the phone, but slower than any state in the union on getting results.

    PE vs SE in Texas

If you don't have the seismic experience or if you haven't had graduate research in vibration theory, then you might want to take the baby steps approach. It sounds like you have excellent experience that would make you a shoe in for the SE Gravity portion. However, the SE Lateral studies on...

    Passing SE scores

Frustrating I'm sure. Perhaps this next one will be different.

Yoduh9, only you can be the judge of your own performance. Did the results surprise you? Thanks.

    Passing SE scores

http://www.ncees.org/About_NCEES/News/News_Pages/Update_on_April_2012_exam_scores.php It looks like we are still having to wait the usual timeframe. I find it unusual that the exam workshop (held June 7-9) is held so late. It appears that the SE scoring is based off of the performance of...

    Passing SE scores

Seems reasonable to me, but I feel I'm in a lot of guys shoes - feel that they got at least 6 out of 10. I personally think 6 out of 10 would guarantee me a passing grade. Hopefully you're right.

The value of a Master degree for a structural engineer? (for structurals only)

Vinsanity, I hope you get licensed soon. There'a no comparison to being in responsible charge of something.

not a great speller with my phone... I frequent this site on my droid. Stupid swype texting doesn't always work the way I want...

    AISC sdm page 5-20

dakota: very nice find! One thing I noticed is that the SDM is incorrect as the Muir article makes the correlation between 50 ksi yield and 70 ksi electrodes. Of course using 5/8 with 36ksi is conservative forthat example.
