Survey: Horizontal Curve Problem Need Help!

Ptatohed, thank you for your prompt reply. You have been a tremendous help to this survey forum. I was wanting to attach file but couldn't figure out how to do it on this forum... Yes, the solution from the Mansour's book take E to be 32' + 8' plus another 25' (to the CL of the 50' wide road)...

Survey: Horizontal Curve Problem Need Help!

I have been studying cumo, Reza and Mansour's books for the civil survey. I have found there are a lot of problems - if not all, are identical in Reza's book and Mansour's book. However, I have found there seemed to be one discrepancy on one of the horizontal curve problems between these two...

I Hate Horizonral Curves and Vertical Curves problems

Yeah, realize the weakness of an area and practice the problems over and over is the way to pass the CA survey. My main problem is that I can't visualize the problem statement into a figure mostly due to lack of survey experience and not familiar with the terminology. Good advice though. There...

I Hate Horizonral Curves and Vertical Curves problems

As title states. I am a big whiny baby :P I think I will just skip these problems on the exam and only come back to do them if I have time left.

    registration status

You should get a postcard from the board to give you an ID number register with prometric. I got a card last time for the October exam so I am expecting to receive one for this April. They are probably still working on it. I wouldn't worry too much, once you get that ID it's easy to schedule...

Taking CA Seismic/Survey Exams every Month!

Not true. At least not now. It's still twice a year. Only advantage is that you got about a window of 3 weeks in April or October to schedule the appointment with prometric testing service and you don't need to go fly to California. Where you hear that rumor?

16 Hour SE Exam for PE Licensure

I passed SE I back in 2005. I have been practicing building structural since '05. I recently took and passed the 16 hour New SE in 2012 because company requires me to license in west coast states. I am now licensed in WA OR AZ NV except CA because CA requires me to become a CA Civil PE first...

CA special civil survey exam Testing plan question

I am a structural with zero survey knowledge plan on taking the 2014 April survey exam. results for CA specific engineering exams

My background is structural/building. Passes 16 hr national SE in one try. For CA seismic I put in about 15 hours quick review. Passed with ease. On difficulty scale of 1 to 10 , with the national seismic being 10 CA seismic is a 2 because it only deals with ASCE 7- 05 and most problems just...

Can anyone recommend a good computer program/design aid for checking existing steel joist capacity for new concentrated load and design chord/web reinforcement for moment and shear? I have seen people setup their own spread sheet but just wondering if there is such program out there. Thanks in...

April 2013 SE, how did you do?

120 took lateral in Illinois? What the....there were only three people including myself in Arkansas. At first I thought I was in the wrong place at the exam site because there were about other 100 or so kids there taking their FE. They looked at me funny when none of them brought any books and I...

April 2013 SE, how did you do?

Honestly I think Lateral is easier to prepare than Vertical, because you have a narrower topic to prepare. Though I am sure the Bridge guys would say the same thing, the exam have too many bridge problems in the morning! I don't design bridge and will never in my career. I guessed all bridge...

April 2013 SE, how did you do?

I think you will have a better chance of passing each component by tackle it separately. I passed each separately on 1st try. Put in about 200+ hours of study for each though. Granted that I am already a practicing PE for over 6 years but still I wouldn't dare to walk into that exam without...
