that's odd, every company i've talked with is going the other way and moving from RISA to STAAD. thankfully my company is sticking with RISA for the time being as i'm completely unfamiliar with STAAD other than flipping through the manual and running through a tutorial back in 2007.

i believe reference criteria varies from state to state. best thing to do would be to call your state board.

to get your PE license in CA do you need to pass all three of the 'Principles & Practices', 'Seismic Principles', and 'Engineering Surveying' exams?

maybe it's because i'm a numbers geek (as all of us here at EB are), but Warren Sharp's statistical findings are the most interesting aspect of this whole debacle. like the article says it doesn't conclusively prove wrongdoing but it sure as hell is interesting.

ah you are correct sir and that does affect the numbers. it's all moot though since the balls were tested at room temp.
