    October 2017

Are we picking favorite months of all time? July 2016 was pretty good for me so I'll throw my hat in the ring for that.

What is your evaluation about CA Seismic & Surveying fall 2017 exams

Seismic - I did the EET review course, put in probably 100 hours, over prepared, thought it was very easy. Survey - Just reviewed Mansour's book and 2 exams. Probably 15 hours. I remembered a lot from surveying in college and geometry/trig is a strength so I found most questions easy, many...

    Not Enough Time!!!!

Most likely it will be early to mid December, but nobody knows for sure.

Surveying exam time was not enough

First of all, wait and see how you did. If you didn't pass, you gotta just take what you learned from the exam (types of questions to expect) and practice them over and over again to improve your speed. You made it this far in engineering, I'm assuming you know quite a bit about how to approach...

Warning regarding Dr. Mansour's Practice Exam Book

That makes me feel better, it seems that if you're good at trig and took a good survey course in college you should be well prepared. Otherwise it would be a very confusing topic and difficult to study for so many years out of school. Do you by chance know when to expect results? I can't find...

Surveying exam time was not enough

Just study and review more for next time in case you don't pass. I took the exam this cycle and had plenty of time to get through the exam.

Warning regarding Dr. Mansour's Practice Exam Book

I honestly can't tell. I studied a lot for seismic (EET class, practice exam, etc...) and walked out of it thinking I probably missed 5-8 at most. The survey exam I studied for just over a week with Mansour's book and two exams only, maybe an hour or two per day. I left the exam thinking I...

Everything you wanted to know about the CA-Survey/Seismic Civil PE Exams

For what it's worth, don't overthink it too much. Just follow the instructions, send it in, worst case they mail you back with exactly what else you need.

Warning regarding Dr. Mansour's Practice Exam Book

I take my surveying exam tomorrow and just had a few notes/caution. I have studied using only Dr. Mansour's textbook and practice exam book. I really enjoyed the textbook, it was well done, explanatory, and well organized. Grammar issues abound, but that's common in engineering so whatever -...

California Civil Surveying Reference Manual (2017)

You are correct, I must have had a different link up. He had the Paul Cuomo book.

California Civil Surveying Reference Manual (2017)

I skipped that one and went with Mansour's book. A coworker had the previous edition of that manual and failed the exam. The previous edition also has terrible reviews on Amazon.

Anybody want to have a study group for Seismic/Surveying? [Westside LA]

I received it at the very end of August and did not receive word that my application had been approved until August as well. I applied by the May 1 deadline.

    Not Enough Time!!!!

I just took it today. It was more challenging than any other practice exams I took but didn't think any of the individual questions were that difficult and I was able to finish with just a few minutes left. I did put a LOT of time into studying though.

Anybody want to have a study group for Seismic/Surveying? [Westside LA]

Just getting everything in order and doing practice exams, etc... Didn't know if anybody is interested in getting together maybe once a week or even just a couple times and going over stuff.

Has anyone heard from board for next exam cycle?

Well I've started studying again for the seismic/surveying exams. My initial review is telling me I probably need to allot much more time to seismic than the surveying section which looks comparatively more straightforward. I took a lot of highway design classes in undergrad so most of what I...
