    Check this forum often....please

I meant to put a reminder out earlier today to please check this mechanical forum as often as possible so we can all help each other if we have questions. I'll be checking in a lot this weekend as I'll be working problems all day and late into the nights. Thanks and if you run across something...

    Psych Charts

Thanks guys! For the 2 sample exams I took I had to plot on the chart several times...especially in the afternoon. I guess I will use the one they provide for those and use my own for the ones I can get away without plotting. Thanks! Anyone else care to chime in? What are the rest of the...

    Psych Charts

I still wondering how to go about using psych charts during the exam. If it's like the 2008 NCEES Sample exam, they will provide 1 and only 1 psych chart to use for the afternoon section. Are you going to use the 1 and only psych chart provided and just erase your marks every time you need it...

Those are some great questions! I'm not so sure I can answer them. As far as the mollier chart question...I don't want to bring a large mollier foldable chart to the exam as I don't think it is allowed so the only choice is the tiny 8.5 x11 mollier chart in the MERM, which is great for a quick...

No....89,780 is correct... I worked this problem a little different than the book although their answer is correct and even quicker. First you must realized there's 3 different things that happen...step 1, 2, and 3. First, the steam is at 5000PSIA and 1200 F which gives you h=1530.8 and...

I don't have the 2001 NCEES sample exam with me here at work (it's at home) but my guess is you'll need a book of steam tables...something simular to... http://www.amazon.com/Thermodynamic-Proper...9527&sr=8-5

I looked at this and I have no idea where the 48 came from. I actually just used the 2 enthalpies and that gave me an answer closest to the correct answer. SO I got it right but more importantly I need to understand how they got their answer so we need to find out where the 48 came from.

    SI Units...

    Thanks guys!

    SI Units...

I went back and counted the # of problems with SI units in the morning section of the 2008 NCEES sample exam and I only count 2. So is that representative of the real thing....about 2 questions in the morning on the PE exam in ME???? I'm taking the HVAC afternoon so I will not have to deal...

Where do you get HP 33s batteries from?

Wal-mart will have them. I would just buy a 2nd calculator and keep it on hand so you don't have to go switching batteries out if your first one dies. If you don't use it, just return it.

    HVAC SMACNA Duct Design Guide

I'm taking the HVAC afternoon. Is there a chance I'll need the SMACNA Duct Design Guide?

I took the 2008 NCEES sample exam yesterday

I have the exam but I don't think I will get to it. I'm still working the 6 minute solution problems. I think the 6 minute problems are better and more representative anyways. I'm running out of time. I also need to re-review electrical, combustion, and heat transfer in the MERM. I also...

I took the 2008 NCEES sample exam yesterday

Well I took the morning section and was really gaining confidence as I worked through it. I thought I really smoked it! Before I graded it I guessed at what I thought my score was...I guessed it was at least a 33. Turns out I only got a 29 out of the 40. Then I started the afternoon HVAC...

Well I took the 2001 NCEES sample exam today...

See the first post in this thread. The passing score changes but it is believed to be around a 56. Give or take a couple of points. A 33 in the morning is strong. If I were you I wouldn't study anything except thermal/fluids from here on. I wouldn't waste your time on the PPI exam. Have...

Lindeburg sample exam problem number 37

Exactly! Also if something is per degree K but you have C, remember the difference in 1 C and 1 K is the same so you can still use something that is per degree K even if you have something that is in C. I hope that makes sense...if not just ignore... :beerchug:

    MERM Conflicting information

I'm going to use 10 but they wont have a problem that is close to 10 so you'll be ok there. I think it's accurate to about 10 but different authors define accurate differently. 0.45 to 0.65 is correct. It's based on statistics and most of the time .577 will do it....so for the exam use .577...

Just got my butt kicked by the NCEES sample questions...

When I took the exam in 06, I thought it was a lot harder than the NCEES sample exam.
