    Another interesting survey question

nah... just trying to give you a headache from thinking too hard :) Your sketch is the correct interpretation. I wish the original drawing was that way. Also, as those are widths, we have to assume that they are right angles.

    Another interesting survey question

I agree with your assessment... those are indeed azimuths. However, Bruce is in Australia and hence their nomenclature may be different. Actually, in mathematical terms " bearing is an angle, measured clockwise from the north direction. "  This is really what we consider azimuth in US surveying...

    Fun Survey Questions

Here is my partial solution. I think the rest of it is easy to calculate. Took me a good three hours to figure out. I can't believe I wasted three hours instead of studying for exam questions but this was more fun ;) .

    Question on Reza's Surveying Workbook

Does Reza Mahallati's workbook have equations and instructional text along with the problems? I saw a copy of his old workbook being sold on ebay and it appears to have only problems and according to the seller some of the class notes. I still couldn't find an used copy of Reza's workbook...

    Fun Survey Questions

You can use CAD, but then you are missing out on the hours of agonizing analytical thinking :) You can draw some construction lines at D and E. At D, draw DA. Also, draw a line from D perpendicular to AC. This one is 100 links long. Draw similar lines at E. Maybe this will help. Another...

    Fun Survey Questions

I see people posting quizzes on other subjects, so I thought that I will post a couple of problems related to survey. This one is taken from a publication by Bruce R. Harvey. He took this from an article published by R. B. Horner. I believe Mr. Horner published a number of challenging problems...

    PROMETRIC NOTIFICATION

Good luck to you and everyone else. My suggestion is that if you can spread them apart with a weekend in between, do that. Schedule the one that you need the most preparation time as the first one. That way you study that hard the last two-three weeks and then spend the next two weeks for the...

Question about the CA Civil Survey Exam Specifications

I will not ask anyone to break the law or go against the Board policies. Will it be okay if the members here who have taken the test can state if questions related to PLSS was in the test or not?

Question about the CA Civil Survey Exam Specifications

I am sorry but I don't agree with you. Can you please let me know which part of the specifications tell me that our knowledge of PLSS will be tested? I am going to study for it because it is in one the guide books but I don't think the Board's Test specs are clear about it. I have to write/edit...

Question about the CA Civil Survey Exam Specifications

No problem ptatohed... I just wish the test plan specs were clearer in scope and intent. A prime example is the PLSS requirements. It should have been clearly stated in the specs so there were no doubts or case for misinterpretation.
