    D-Day approaching

After talking the exam for the first time. Tonight I feel like more.

    Oct 2018 NCEES Pencil Is...

Exactly... Pure evil... Blue is kind of neutral.

I was in NYC and we got Blue.

    Oct 2018 NCEES Pencil Is...

WTF. I HAD A BLUE ONE. And they DID NOT let me keep it.

    Im skipping the exam.

Just show up anyway and see what it's like. Just start filling in answers. You must take your chance. The choice has been all yours.

    The Last Supper

I prefer to eat light. Maybe a salad and soup for dinner the night before. Then breakfast would be an English muffin with jelly or something with a banana. Then for lunch on the day of the exam would be a sandwich with some apple sauce and a plain chocolate bar for added sugar. You don't want...

    Less than 40 hours away

Jeez, I keep forgetting some people have to go long ways to get a test site. Luckily I'm in NYC which will take an hour to get to in traffic. I guess I'll do some quick tabs tomorrow and the books are getting closed. I'll compile them and put them in my duffle bag. I already made my lunch and I...

To everyone taking the test on Friday

Same here. Stuff like grounding or illumination I'll probably just look up. I'm getting tired of studying. It's too much. I want to relax.

    NCEES Power #140 Practice Exam

The relay setpoint is 5V as given in the problem. The relay is tied to a transformer. The transformer turns ratio is N1/N2 or V1/V2. So, the turns ratio is 120. The secondary voltage would be 5V whereas the primary voltage would be 5V*120 = 600V. Therefore the contacts in the relay will change...

    Differential Relay

Seen this exact problem before. You have to compensate for the phase shift on the wye side so, multiply the current by root 3. It's also done this way in one of my protection books I have. If it were delta-delta or wye-wye then there's no root 3 multiplication, I think. Just another little thing...

To everyone taking the test on Friday

Thank you and good luck to you as well. I'm not going to stress over it. Just going to walk in, do my thing and leave. I know for sure we'll see topics we've never seen before which is unfortunate. Just keep your mind straight, don't freak out and do your best.

I almost solved the NCEES Pencil Color Equation! ..... but not quite

I hope we get green pencils on Friday. Anything green. Green is good.

I almost solved the NCEES Pencil Color Equation! ..... but not quite

That's the black one. Mine was white and red, I believe. Red grip and red top.

Destroy it and send it to the depths of hell where it belongs.

I almost solved the NCEES Pencil Color Equation! ..... but not quite

I believe that, considering I did not pass that time. I had better luck with the erasable pad and marker.

    Protection Problems

I can just picture it like Who Wants To Be a Millionaire's "phone a friend". Me: Is it A) Class RK5 Type Fuses, B) Thermal Magnetic Circuit Breaker, C) Ground Fault Relay or D) Nontime Delay Fuse... 20 seconds! Author: Um, you know I really don't know. Could you repeat the choices again? Me...

I almost solved the NCEES Pencil Color Equation! ..... but not quite

I had a red pencil for the last paper FE exam in October 2013. I hope we get the green this week. Green means "go" and it's the color of luck. Not that I'm superstitious but it's a nice thought.

    NESC, NFPA 70E, 497, 499 & 30B

It is ridiculous. In fact, from what I've seen from previous survey results from Eng Pro Guides a lot of the people that passed didn't even take 70E, 497, 499 & 30B. I'm only taking a short handbook version of 70E. I can't buy all of these references, read and tab them for one possible...
