    Practice Problems

I wish I had started the complex imaginary books sooner.  I really enjoyed them, but they aren’t PDFs. The best thing I found for free is search Wikipedia for rectifiers, batteries, sequential components, etc.  Even better search YouTube for electrical pe and take notes.

    October 2019 Examinees

I wanted to do something different so tonight I finally read the Megger Down to Earth article.  Lots of good stuff on ground resistance testing.  https://assets.tequipment.net/assets/3/7/GettingDownToEarth.pdf

    Practice Exam Performance

I think it depends on the nature of the things you got wrong.  If you are getting small math errors from punching it in the calculator wrong or something like that, I would do a general review for the next few days.  You’ve been working really hard and I’m trying not to stress myself out this...

Eng Pro Guide Exam 1 (Batteries)

I didn’t see your answer.  Sorry didn’t mean to give a competing explanation.

Eng Pro Guide Exam 1 (Batteries)

Batteries perform better in higher temperatures except for extreme temperatures.   Batteries have internal resistance (there are some good YouTube videos on this).  Imagine a 12 volt battery.  The load will not draw a full 12 volts because there is a small voltage drop due to this internal...

    Cap banks in parallel

Hmm never mind.  I think I was confusing kvar with capacitance.  Seems like a silly question after I reread it.

    Cap banks in parallel

Hello,  complex imaginary test 1, number 57 says a three phase motor needs to have it’s pf improved by 2400 Kvar.   If 160 kvar cap banks are available, how many of them would be needed per phase if the units are connected in parallel? The solution says to divide the 800 kvar per phase by 160...

Thank you.  Maybe I have been confusing Pout and P_in.

    Symmetrical Component Diagrams

I’ve used this sel one to answer a lot of practice exam questions.  👍

    Mechanical power of synchron motor

On page 362 of wildi there is the following equation for mechanical power per phase in watts.   P= (E_0 *E/ Xs)* sin (torque angle) I’ve run across a similar equation when practice problems ask for max power , the angle is 90 degrees so P= (E_0 *E/ Xs) How do we know when to use this...

    One Month Out Encouragement

This is great.  I am a little nervous as you’ve described .  I’ve studied about 500 hours and sometimes I get problems wrong on the practice test because I’m sloppy and tired. I’m going spend the next month on review, practicing being more careful, and catching up on sleep.  Anyway,  I will do...

    PE Raleigh area exam location

Do you remember if at the McKinnon center there was a clock in the room?  Did they allow tabbed resources?  I haven’t tabbed anything yet but I think that would help me be faster.
