Hello,

I have approximately 14 years of experience in environmental consulting/industrial hygiene and have been a project manager for the last 3 years. I am looking to see if there are any states or countries that do not require a bachelors degree to enroll for the the courses and take the exams necessary to obtain a PE License. If this is possible, I am looking to become certified in another state or country and obtain reciprocity for the license to be transferred to NYC.

If this is correct then what are the steps I need to take? Besides my work experience I am basically starting from scratch and any information will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,

I think you first need to understand that there is no such thing as "transferring" a P.E. license. Each state licenses engineers separately, using their own legally-established criteria. If you do not meet the educational requirements of New York State, there is no "workaround" that allows you to gain a P.E. license in New York State.

Thank you for your feedback. I did see to transfer a California PE License to New York State that it would have to go through Licensure by Comity. Are you saying that the requirements in CA would not suffice for NYS?
