PhD with not too much experience

I received Ph.D. and master’s degrees in civil and environmental engineering from the U. of Alabama in Huntsville. In my Ph.D., I built a stochastic model to predict the soil moisture profile from remotely sensed surface soil moisture values and water balance constraints. In my masters’ research...

PhD with not too much experience

Thank you solomonb, I appreciate your advice. You are right, I took only one year break before pursuing my masters and PhD. Both my PhD advisor and Post-doc supervisor are helping me, and still the target is academia. You are right, now with the PE I have a better chance to get a faculty...

PhD with not too much experience

Most of my experience is in research including my post-doc work.

PhD with not too much experience

I think I would be considered overqualified, at least from my job search experience, I never found an Ad for an entry level asking for PhD.

PhD with not too much experience

I have masters and PhD in civil engineering/water&eniv., I just passed the PE. I have enough experience for getting my PE (more than 2 years) but not enough for manager level. Right now I am a post-doc and applying for a faculty position all around the US (typical thing to do). However...

Water Resource and Env. April 11, 2011 PE Exam

I passed, do not know if my guess was right though.

Highest number of Questions right to fail?

Totally Agree, even though we cannot claim that we know the failing results of every examinee, looking at the comments from people at this board I did not see any one said that they fail the civil engineering PE with 56/80 or higher. This does not mean that we will not see that happens in the...

Are salary statistics show exaggerated numbers?

A lot of websites out there claim they have the statistics of salary (average, median,… ) (e.g. http://www.indeed.com/salary/Civil-Engineer.html). Are these statistics show the basic salary or the total with benefits and bonuses? Because I think these numbers are exaggerated.

    Idaho Results Are Out

Is anyone else here took the April 2011 exam in Idaho. I remember we were about 60 examinees.

    Signature location

Actually, Idaho, where I took my PE, requires the signature either across or adjacent to the seal.

    State Specific exam info

Boise, Idaho - April 2011 - PE Location The Premium Building at the Expo Idaho. I think the building is used as a barn at other times :) . However, the building was clean with no bad smell. Two per table, I am not sure if it was comfortable or not for the examinees because I was lucky that I...

Which is better having your signature across or adjacent to the seal?

Which states require new PEs to get a stamp/seal?

In Idaho, obtaining a seal/stamp is a requirement. The state board says in the passing notification letter that you have to send them within 60 days an impression of your seal and signature in order to complete your licensure process, and failing to do so may result into cancelation of the license.

Do you still get a letter or just online?

In Idaho the board sent me by mail a passing notification letter. It includes a pocket size card which I guess serves as a certificate.

All-in-One Civil PE Exam Guide by Indranil Goswami

Same here, I passed the Civil/Water from the first attempt. I did not have enough time to study, did not even bother to buy Lindeburg's CERM. Used Goswami's All-in-One for familiarizing myself with topics I never took before, focusing on subjects that are mentioned in the NCEES syllabus; this...
