What stage are you currently experiencing waiting for results?

Hey, Glad to see you gave it another go.  I hope you felt better about it this time around!

    Texas Application - Technical Review

I remember that part of it being pretty fast. It doesnt take long to review SERs, and the reference forms (provided your references all said you've met the standards) should all be green-lighted. Ditto with the background check.

    Texas Application - Technical Review

I dont remember it taking long assuming you've submitted all documentation online. The actual checking and verification was a few days at most in my case, though YMMV depending on what they have to look at. The longest part was waiting for the reference letters to trickle in.

What's my Chemical PE Good For?

I dont think the Koch brothers have a soul, either, but that doesnt mean we should copy their MO!

    Average pay raise after PE

I know within Shell (note: NOT my employer) there's a push to the point where promotions dont happen unless you have a PE. They've basically made it a requirement in their Wells group IIRC. I really think it depends how you leverage it. Either you hand out a bonus upon successful completion of...

How much money do you make per year?

Oil and Gas. Nearly 10 years out of school. Most folks pull in more than what they pay the Secretary of the Navy as a base salary, and on top of which you get short and long term bonus that are typically % of salary, which is nice. BUT I dont get cheap gas despite being at an owner-operator...

    Working Overseas

As an ex-pat brat growing up, I was used to the shuffling around the world, but note that as soon as you hit high school ages with kids, it gets harder. Thankfully I wound up ok (despite what my friends say!), but I like your style of getting out there while you can. At 32 I've worked in 3...

Why do civil engineers have to take so many exams?

They're still trying to get Pet Engineers licensed, and I think they're going to have a hard time doing it until there's more "crackdown" on requiring them in-house for most Operators. Of the engineers in the office, only my boss and I have PEs, other than a few contractors. There's a move by...

What's my Chemical PE Good For?

All P&IDs up in Canada went out the door stamped when Issued for Construction (IFC) as part of the construction work packs (CWPs) so I used to bang out a lot of stamps and signing on large vellum drawings. At this stage I feel like the most i'll use my stamp for is stamping references of...

    NCEES Record

But, like, reading's hard, and I totally missed that! Thanks! Sorry for wasting y'all's time!

    NCEES Record

I'm going to bump this b/c it has the most replied to questions about NCEES records, so I thought I'd ask: During the NCEES Records Application steps, it requires you to provide info on your FE and PE Exams. Here's the kicker. I got a waiver from TX on the FE b/c of experience (8 years out of...

What's my Chemical PE Good For?

This isnt the case in my experience in Offshore O&G. Most P&IDs (that I can remember) were stamped by licensed PEs. Granted, this may have been a requirement on the operator, but in our operating company all the P&IDs for all our deepwater facilities are stamped. Now, whether...

Where to get your PE stamp?

I got my pre-inked on Amazon. They were cheaper ($23.25 and free S&H) than the two sites that post on here, and they send you a proof beforehand (I asked) once you give them all your info.

How to prepare for Plant Design and Operation Section of the Exam

I'd keep at it right away. The longer you kick the can on it the longer it's going to take to get back on the saddle. The percentages you reference above show you have a handle on some of it, so it's not a total loss. I'd just be cognizant of giving yourself as much time as you can on the...

Salary raise after passing PE exam

I take-home 70% more than her on base salary.
