    Best sources to learn structural

Hi everybody, I’m a licensed EE and work industrial. On the side I like to flip homes and remodel. I often run into structural issues such as joist span to wide. Joist too small. Beam needs to be upgraded etc. So far, I always hired a CE to write a recommendation and seal it. I’d like to learn...

Passing PE exam & current employer reaction?

I didn’t even mention it to my boss. I’d be the only PE. That means stamping our outsourced engineering from another country lol.  Heck no! I’m not going to review some IEC NEC Hybrid that hasn’t been performed under my supervision. I’ll just be silently leaving and looking for a new...

    Adding Credentials

In TX the exam can be decoupled from everything else. All you need is to pass the FE to be approved for the PE exam. Once you passed the PE, you might still need to wait 3-8 years depending on your degree and work experience before you can apply.  I’d love to add PE to my name, but I saw that...

    Adding Credentials

Is it possible in TX to submit your paperwork and apply for a license without taking the test. Then eventually pass the test and become a PE the next day? Or is that fraudulent? I have seen many fellow engineers awarding themselves the PE title after passing the test.

How do you feel if a person tells you she spent only one night to prepare and pass the exam?

People who boast about themselves have a problem. There is nothing more I can add to this conversation 🤮

    Adding Credentials

I filed my PE application yesterday I’m TX. I was told it takes 6-8 weeks. Was told the same when I applied for a EIT and obtained it after 2 weeks.  Does anybody have any information about recent turnaround times?

Upset with my ex-boss after I passed my PE

@SuperKK Sounds like my ex boss. I quit, got a severance package and escaped to a better company. Never forget, you leave managers not companies. If the PE was easy, why doesn’t she have it? So sick and tired of moody bosses. Never happy, never positive and always nagging.  Thats a toxic work...

    Failed PE Power

I used Engineering Pro Guide from Justin Kauwale. Very easy to understand and an excellent practice exam.  The PPI book is crap but it saved my butt for one problem.  Not sure what’s going on in NY but I have never heard of a PE requirement to get something else waived. Except you want to get...

WHY Texas wants to hold the result the year I took the Exam??!!!!

I hear you. How hard is it to send out a notification.  Probbaly the board operates like a major corporation.  Two review cycles and a signature from the GM is required. Unfortunately, the GM is on vacation.

WHY Texas wants to hold the result the year I took the Exam??!!!!

I don’t want to get my hopes up for today. However, when you were talking about 1300 today, are you really putting your hopes up that they might release today? if so, I better run to Lakewood and ask Joel for emotional support 👍🏼
