I am planning to take the 16 Hours exam in Virgina. If I passed, would I be able to use S.E. after my name? Is anyone here who have gone through this experience? How have you been able to take advantage of your passing the exam? Thanks.

You are right. Here is the quote from the exam instruction from NCEES website. " 2. Examinees will use only the Allowable Stress Design (ASD) method, except strength design Section 3.3.5 may be used for walls with out-of-plane loads. " you can also find this at https://ncees.org/Exams/SE_exam.php

Each candidate will receive a component result for the component(s) attempted. The result will reflect the candidate's performance on both the morning and afternoon sections; the candidate's combined performance on both sections must demonstrate minimum competency.

I understand your feeling. I am afraid I don't have an answer for you but just check your name and your NCEES ID if they match then you passed for real. Or pinch yourself to make sure you are not dreaming ( I actually did it). And make sure you enjoy your victory. :multiplespotting:

Good resolve cwlodyka! Very well said. We all tend to lose sight of the fact that whether you pass or fail, just by taking the exam make you a better engineer. One said "you learn more by failing than being successfull the first time". Iam sure you will make it next time.

I still think that VA should get result soon. It may be a wishfull thinking but I looked up under Results heading on the NCEES website for VA and ME. Both are serviced by PCS. The Results note for ME says that PCS will notify candidates while the Results note for VA says NCEES will notify...
