    B.S.Eng w/concentration vs. B.S.M.E.

Okay, that's understandable. Thanks for your advice! ;)

    B.S.Eng w/concentration vs. B.S.M.E.

I'm sorry, but what's wrong with my questions? You and others have told me that a general engineering degree was no good, and I simply wanted to know what sort of effect having that degree would realistically have in landing a job or going to grad school. I just want to know if employers...

    B.S.Eng w/concentration vs. B.S.M.E.

Thanks for the advice everyone; I really do appreciate it. So a general engineering degree would really make me significantly less employable? What if I went to grad school right afterward and got a masters in mechanical eng?

    B.S.Eng w/concentration vs. B.S.M.E.

Yeah, in a way you're right. But this time I'm talking about an ABET accredited general engineering degree with a concentration in M.E. and an ABET accredited B.S.M.E. It's similar, I know, but my dilemma is this: get a full ride to a small college and get a degree in gen eng with a...

    B.S.Eng w/concentration vs. B.S.M.E.

Yes, the B.S.Eng with concentration in M.E. is ABET accredited for General Engineering. Would it be better to go for the actual Mechanical Engineering degree?

    B.S.Eng w/concentration vs. B.S.M.E.

One university I'm looking at offers a B.S.Eng degree with a concentration in Mechanical Engineering, and most other universities offer a B.S. specifically in Mechanical Engineering. Is there a drastic difference between these two degrees? Will it greatly affect grad school/job placement? Thanks!!

    3-2 Engineering Program

Yes, if I did this, I would probably go to Biola and then transfer to USC (U. of Southern California). USC has a very good engineering program. I plan on studying mechanical engineering by the way.

    3-2 Engineering Program

Hey everyone? There is something called a 3-2 engineering program at some schools in which you attend a liberal arts college for 3 years and obtain a bachelors degree in Physical Science, and then transfer to a school such as USC and receive a bachelors in an engineering specialty. So...

    Research

Hello everyone, I was wondering what a more research-oriented (mechanical) engineering job would involve. How is it different from a regular "Engineer I" position, for example? I am looking into Cal Poly to earn my MechE B.S., and I know that since it is a Cal State school, it is more...

Sorry Benbo for not putting Architectural Engineering as an option  To those of you that have a master's degree: does your higher degree give you a serious edge in the work force? Is it necessary for engineers to get their master's degree?

    Undergrad School

Okay, so should I steer clear of a school that doesn't have specific ABET accreditation for Mechanical Engineering? Even if it's accredited for "Engineering"?

    Undergrad School

So because only the "General Engineering" program is accredited at John Brown and the specific "Mechanical Engineering" program isn't by name accredited, if I went there and studied Mechanical Engineering, it wouldn't be considered accredited, even though they have "general engineering"...

    Undergrad School

Thanks for the link StaciaZ. I looked under John Brown University, and it's accredited for general engineering, but not mechanical engineering specifically, whereas Cal Poly SLO is. Does this matter?
