    MODAL RESPONSE ANALYSIS FOR SEISMIC

Refer to the section in the Lateral chapter if the SERM. That is the extent to which I'd expect. Good luck with your studies! (Can't say I miss it yet!)

April 2013 SE, how did you do?

I'm surprised the CA pass rates are so high, I'm curious to learn the national statistics. I'm happy to report that I passed the Bridge Vertical last Oct, and the Lateral this April. Huge relief! To all test-takers out there, I STRONGLY recommend taking the tests at separate times, so that...

April 2013 SE, how did you do?

So sorry to hear about your experience BP. That really sucks. Gagnam Style!? I already wasn't able to eat anything from the nerves, but that would have made me nearly lose it! I took the br lateral as well, and was having trouble with the wording of the afternoon problems also. The problem for...

    Time for afternoon problems

That NCEES sample test book is difficult to keep open! Fortunately in the real exam, you only have the problems you are working for that session. The exam question booklet is thin, and will be fine. Are you taking both days? I gather this is your first time--good luck!

SEAOC Structural/Seismic Design Manual 2009 IBC Vol 3: Example 1A Question

Thanks for your responses. I completely agree about the sense of frustration in regards to the errors in the study material. I try to reassure myself that if I can identify that it is, or is likely an error, then I tend to understand the concepts. In that regard it seems to help with the...

SEAOC Structural/Seismic Design Manual 2009 IBC Vol 3: Example 1A Question

Hopefully this is a quick one. (I feel I need to mention I'm a bridge guy, because I feel the answer should be relatively straightforward for someone more familiar with the material.) On p. 13, Table 1A-3, in the SEAOC Structural/Seismic Design Manual 2009 IBC Vol 3: Building Design Examples...

ASCE 7-10 versus required ASCE 7-05 for April13 PE Exam

Nafta, I took the PE and didn't have either of the references you mention with me. I was able to correlate the needed information with other resources I had with me, e.g. AISC, ACI, etc. You're always safer with all of and the correct references, but I wouldn't worry about it too much, and try...

Should one have to have used PE Stamp to qualify as an SE Applicant?

So, hypothetically, if someone wanting to apply for the SE exam asked you to be a reference for them, and they have not stamped anything, would you say they are qualified (based on the requirement of "responsible charge")?

Should one have to have used PE Stamp to qualify as an SE Applicant?

Quick question to the group: Should an SE applicant have stamped/sealed a drawing or document in order to qualify for the SE Exam? I am referencing the requirements as shown on the CA Board application (I'm not familiar with other states' requirements), which requires that an applicant has...

CIVIL / STRUCTURAL STUDY MATERIAL, I passed!

structeng--I am interested in your AASHTO code. Please PM me. Thanks and Congratulations!

    SE Exam Results?

Congratulations! I was wondering what references or study guides you used for the lateral bridges portion, or any that you recommend? There doesn't seem to be many study guides for this test, the only I've seen is the NCEES sample exam. I assume it is all AASHTO, correct? Thanks in advance...

Results Released to State Boards 12/17

Took and passed the Vertical! One down, one to go. I decided at the outset to split them up to help ensure passing, especially in light of the new fee structure. Good luck to all on your October results!

October 2012 SE Exam - The Aftermath

I'm a bridge guy, and took the bridge afternoon portion. Splitting the exam would then make two separate authority titles, which I don't think is necessary (the fundamental overlap is just too substantial). I understood at the outset that I would have to spend more time studying less familiar...

Thanks guys, looks like I'm good to go--except for the 2008 version of the SDPWS. I really appreciate your help!
