Hi everybody,
I’m a licensed EE and work industrial. On the side I like to flip homes and remodel. I often run into structural issues such as joist span to wide. Joist too small. Beam needs to be upgraded etc.
So far, I always hired a CE to write a recommendation and seal it. I’d like to learn residential structural engineering myself. What sources do you all recommend to get started? I’m more a practical guy. Reading a great, real life examples with numbers are better.
I don’t want to calculate sky scrapers and tunnels. Just basic joist, studs, rafters, beams stuff
